rtbiscuit
think of the money you could rake in if you could run a haulage company on an alternative fuel. you could undercut every haulier in the indusrty and be raking the business in. Nic Vicious
Due to the rising fuel costs I am considering the "shed it for special occasions" with my Zed and buying an economical car to commute in! (Some cheap rubbish like a Kia or Hyundai! )I love driving too much to just give it up! Its taken me a long time to get to a good car like the Zed and I'm not going to give it up now! No matter how high fuel costs get! Still it's only £131.9 for Tesco 99 in Glasgow so I'll keep postponing for now! or start building that shed, wherever it's gonna be built!! ace
today I got this email I have already sent it to every person I know if you want to as well just copy and paste it into your email Please read this before deleting, it is worth considering Please see what you think and pass it on if you agree with it. We are hitting £129.9 a litre in some areas now and soon we will be faced with paying £1.50 perlitre. So here is a good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign' that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS - not sellers control the market place. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one) i.e. ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If all of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)....and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on. By the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all YOU have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at ESSO/BP). How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell,Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc. i.e. Boycott BP and Esso

flyboy
If I was bothered about the cost of fuel then I would not have bought a Zed in the first place. I have the choice of driving a 58 reg 1.3 Ka which cost me £2.5K Insurance £140 Tax £110 and gets 40 mpg but 0% pleasure or an 04 plate 350Z cost £8.5K Insurance £500 Tax £250 and gets 16-22mpg ( never measured it but that seems about what others are getting when they are honest.) 100% pleasure. The Ka is supposed to be the daily drive and the 350z the weekend toy. ( that's how it got pitched to the other half anyway) Have I driven the Ka since I got the Zed, Yes but only when there was 4" of snow and it seemed prudent to avoid someone from skidding into the Zed or skidding into something else.. I don't do many miles at the moment as work is only 4 miles away which means the mileage on the Zed is probably even worse than the figures above as it barely gets warm. Dont care. Not too long ago ( pre Z but still in a 3.5 litre sports car) I had a 70 mile a day commute through the Midlands which could take up to 2 hours each way. ( J13 M6 to J 5 M5 ). I would still have been driving the Zed if I had had one. Come on guys you have got one to drive it not to moan about the cost of driving it. If things are that bad then sell the £500 exhaust and the £1000 suspension mods etc.... and put fuel in it for another year.

remould
The way I look at is ... 1 pint of Stella = £ 3.30 8 pints to the gallon = £26.40 1 Curry = £ 8.00 1 return Taxi to town = £16.00 Total = £ 53.70 That would be a very conservative estimate for a night out for one person A day in the Z would cost about the same for fuel and you don't even get a stinking hangover or damage your Brain,Liver,Heart,Kidneys ! Just the possibility of a Huge grin and a speeding ticket. The days of the petrol /diesel car are coming to an end and soon we'll all be driving electric. The government are simply going to price them off the roads. At the moment the electric cars will have Zero RFL and lower costs overall but once we've all got one I guarantee you that the cost of them and the associated taxes on them WILL rise ! And think on this,if they're not getting the Tax from the car user, they will definately be getting it from somewhere else !! When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. Thomas Jefferson

Chesterfield
Locked. Seriously - this was around years ago. Its not the refineries making the petorl prices high, so the target is wrong anyway. Want to do something about it, dont buy any petrol at all from anywhere, that will reduce the duty, but also your ability to drive anywhere.
