chrisgunton
I'm 99% sure i'm getting it this week However, the seller says the tax is the lower tax (260pm as opposed to 400+pm). It's a 2004 model. Is it in the cheap tax band?
Ekona
It is.
Danny 350Z
I think if the Zed is a JDM it is in the lower tax bracket isn't it?
Tarmac@TarmacSportz
Mines a 2003 and costs me £180 last time
slimjim
Bit of advice.... if you are fretting about how much the road tax will be.... DON'T BUY A ZED.... Mine is in the cheaper tax bracket too... but it STILL costs a fortune to run
Goldcrest Four
The short answer is 'yes'. The higher rate applies to cars post April 06. The longer answer is; go to the DVLA site type in the vehicle registration mark and the site will show the VED.

Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £134.75 12 Months Rate £245.00 Also "Vehicle Status Unlicensed" Does this mean the road tax hasn't been paid on it? Lexx
Also "Vehicle Status Unlicensed" Does this mean the road tax hasn't been paid on it? I want to use sarcasm so much here.... As for Zedism not being cheap. I found it quite reasonable costing to run. I get a little disgruntled at these people who say "oh if youre worried about mpg, or tax, or insurance, then its not the car for you" What do they know? If you want it, buy it. Erm, well if they're on this forum they probably have a pretty good idea of Zed running costs. I think it's a pretty fair comment that if you want to buy a car like a Zed then you need deep enough pockets to run it and enjoy it properly, otherwise what's the point? I agree you do need "deep enough pockets" as you say. But how does that owner know what the finances of the new member/owner are? How can they assume to know if they can or cant afford it based on asking what the mpg is? My ex fiance was planning on buying a R34 GTT, we had to know what approx mpg it had, so that we could factor in if she would have to buy a diesel shed for work to go with it. She was fully aware it was gunna be expensive to run, but needed to know just how expensive so she knew if she could spend her full savings on one, or whether £1000 had to be kept behind for a shed. chrisgunton
Hey all. I'm comparing it to my MX5 - which is thirsty. About as thirsty as a Zed. Road tax for the Zed is a little more and I'm sure I'll get stung getting it serviced too. But the MX5 has had a fortune spent on it, and routinely does still! The Zed may end up cheaper! rtbiscuit
go to a good independent and servicing shouldn't be too bad
ray350gt4
mines a 2005 and ive just paid £245 for a year which isnt bad considering what you will have to pay on fuel, tyres, and any fancy bits you might want to put on it
doctor austin
What a Zed expensive to run..no I dont think so. 28mpg on a run, dead simple to service all service items are very easy to get at and not expensive (no cam belt change), then there's the fact that they are such a bargain to purchase when secondhand. I guess you CAN spend a lot of cash on them but so can some on Fords or whatever. Most things in life cost money but the Zed gives so much fun
