M9O OEY
Hi all, The last few times iv driven my z upon starting iv heard a squeak that seems to be coming from the rear the faster I drive the faster it gets kind of pointing me towards the wheels . But within 1 min of driving it's gone, say as soon as iv driven half a mile. Then after stopping for an hr I start the car again and the exact same happens. Iv visually checked the pads without removing the wheels and they seem ok. Going to check the wkend but any advice / guesses will be greatly appreciated. Roo
Sounds like a caliper sticking or not releasing properly. May be nothing. Do you have a friendly garage? If so ask them to have a look and give the brakes a clean, its probably just something suchas the caliper piston not releasing properly or rusty. If you breaks are not vibrating and you have plenty of meat on them and your handbrake is holding then they probably just need a clean and lubrication. Roo
Had this sort of thing on my last car when it jad ben stood for a while. Was just the handbrake not releasing properly. Sounds similar to what you have. May be that all it needs is a clean up.
M9O OEY
Hopefully but i drive it every day so think it's more likely to be the piston . Thanks
Darren-B
Inner pads could be low but I`d suggest going to the petrol garage & blasting the brakes with compressed air, this should help clear any debris within the calipers
Darren-B
Alsoif you been exceptionally hard on the brake & got them a wee bit hot this can cause squeaking as the pad surface could be heat damaged. A few moderate heat cycles would normally clear this
