rabbitstew
Yeah ive got the same dilema here. Last year the alloys on my golf got totally ruined with all the salt and stuff. The problem I have is I just dont have the time to clean and wax the wheels every other day to keep them protected. So, sensible thing says to get a cheapie set of winter wheels and use them... but then I dont really fancy using my car over winter at all to be honest, so a 2nd car would be the way forward... only problem is insurance puts that out of the question. Argh!!!! Back to ebay I think and will keep an eye on some of these cheap stock rims.

Karlp
Going to be locking my zed down for the bad parts of winter, and using either a ford galaxy or vw polo. Dont want to take the salt risk especially after my respray.
BulletMagnet
The Zed is my only car......which isn't really a bad thing
trackpig
Well done- nice purchase. I hope you find the winter tyres as good as I do. Mine are sitting the garage on the touring wheels just waiting to be called into action
trackpig
Just a bit of an update for this thread: The snow was bucketing down last night, so it was a choice of stay in and watch a film ive seen before or go out in the 350 for a drive in the snow. I opted for the drive. The winter tyres are fitted and still going strong. I must admit, I had a great time in the snow- good traction when needed with slides on demand. Dblock
Some people still say oh winter tyres are rubbish once you drive in snow with them you can't go back.
