New kid - lowering on spacer advice.

Hey, i'm new to this forum so if this is in the wrong place or something thats been answered a thousand times before, i apologise.

I've got myself an 08 Gt, on 18" rays. Basically i'm wanting to lower it by 30mm and also fit spacers.

I've read loads of info about some people running 30's on the rear and 25's front wich looks impressive but i've gotta use my car everyday on some pretty shabby back roads, and naturally i love my car and dont wanna run the risk of creasing my arch on a dirty speedbump

Can anyone advise me of the best spacer size to go for with a 30mm drop, i dont wanna roll my rear arches but i want a decent stance.

Cheers in advance.

Maybe I can help Hayd350!

I'm running 20mm spacers front and 25mm rear with 25mm drop on coilovers.

The difference to stock setup is a far more stable and handling based ride, yet not really any more uncomfortable than stock suspension.

At a 25mm drop I can navigate most potholes and bumps, though I have to stay away from high speedbumps and multi-story car parks.

Hope that helps somewhat!

Hi Ruddles, thanks for your response.

the ideal setup for me is dropped thirty mil, 25mm spacers on the rear and 20 on the front.

i know with stock shocks and lowering springs its going to be a slightly bouncy ride compared to coilovers i suppose your a good person to ask actually.

Naturally i'm not going to hunt you down if your advice doesn't serve me well but based on your setup do you think i'll have issues. dont fancy rolling the arches either.

do you tyres fall behind the arches on large bumps?

Hey mate, I run 30's and the ride is great and very stable. I've dropped u a pm with some info.

I have the nismo skirts and bumpers/splinter and I can get over most speed bumps without hassle. Had minor issues with huge ones but suprised myself with how big I can get over

Cheers Neilp, feel better about the drop now, i know its only thirty mill so its not exactly crazy but i dont want it to be a nightmare from day to day driving, also i dont want that "tucked" look you sometimes get after lowering hence the craving for spacers.

I have no issues with my setup, except I can't do raised middle B roads....found that out a few months ago!

Take note that I am running on 18" Rays.

You may have an issue running the 25/30mm spacers at a 30mm drop regarding the arches...as my setup is pretty close and 'just' falls in the arches over bumps!

i had the feeling 30's would be an issue out back, so with all the info i've gathered and obviously your post above i'll stick with

20/25. is there any pictures of your setup on here?

Now all i have to do is find some bargain H&R hubcentrics and i'll be laughing. cheers for your help.

The pics are quite mixed up in terms of before and after shots and the car sits lower now than the pics show.

No trouble at all!
