If you just want office stuff and web, it just comes down to whether you are happy to pay the "apple tax" for the design, as an equivlent spec windows laptop or pc would be much cheaper.

No real gaming on a Mac, and you only get one mouse button

All depends what you want it for Wayne. If your into gaming stick with the pc. ;)

Thanks Dave,no not into gaming not on the PC anyway.I've been told you can't get viruses,so don't have to run firewall software, also they don't get slower as a PC does.

Just want something reliable to surf the interweb, store photos etc.

Both me and my partner have Mac Books, and we both think they are great. They are always reliable, and as a design package they cant be beat. No they are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The add on bits for them are not cheap, but i think thats all part of buying a premium product. Its takes abit of getting used to,but when you do,you will realise how much better they are.

I certainly never regret buying it,and i use Windows all day at work, just wish Windows was as good.

My PC has started playing up,started shutting itself down and rebooting.

I'm thinking of changing to one of the new IMac's as I love the look of them. Are there any advantages, disadvantages over a PC?

I just made the move three weeks ago.

Mostly depends on what you want from it.

The iMac is not upgradable (except for the RAM), a PC is upgradable.

I dont buy into the iMac is more expensive theory, if you compare it to a PC spec by spec including you GPU, screen spec and apple warranty and after care.

PC is better for gaming, upgrading parts is mostly a DIY.

iMac is great for photo/video storing and editing, more stable (I am running 3D software and I experience less problems running multiple programmes).

The apple customer support is priceless.

Enjoy what ever you get

There is much more to it (I only had it for 3 weeks)

Have you tried going into the Apple store? You will probably get better customer service, help etc from there, than PC world.

Why not try one out in store?

At the Apple shop in MK,you can go upstairs and surf the net, check your emails etc for free, and you get to use their latest stuff, and they will help you out with anything.

That way you get to play around with the computer for free and check you emails etc while your out! lol

Definitely don't get it from PC World they are the worst!!!!

BMW Dealers give you better customer service!!

If you have got kids you might be able to get a student discount.

I have worked with PCs for the last 24 years and have a house full of them. They are nothing but trouble. They just seem to get slower and slower with age even if you reload the operating system. My wife bought an iMac 2.5 years ago and it has been faultless and is still as fast now as it was when she bought it. Turns on in 10 seconds and she is read to work, My current fancy Windows laptop can take 20 minutes to power up!!!! I will never buy another PC
