marshian
Hi, I am new to this site, but I have had my 350z for about 6 months - but I have a couple of questions which I was hoping people might be able to help me with. I have tried searching the forums, but didn't find the answers I was looking for. OK - to give you some background: I have a Japanese import - 350Z roadster, six speed manual, Jap Sat Nav, Bose Stereo TV etc. First registered in Japan 1/10/03 - Non Brembo brakes, tan and black webbing seats. OK - Now on with the questions; most stupid first: 1. What does JDM stand for? 2. Even though I have had my car serviced by a Nissan Service Centre since it has been in this country - after I had the car a while an error message appeared on the Sat Nav Screen (in Japanese) with a picture of a spanner in green and the words "PIT" - I have attached this picture. I had this screen translated and apparently it means that I need to have my oil filter changing (which I don't btw) and I understand that this "service warning" light can be reset in the cockpit - Nissan dealers have told me that UK Spec models don't have a "service wanring light" so they can't reset it. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone know a fix for it? 3. What the flip-flop is an Auto DJ and how does it work? (I have a button near the roof that says auto DJ) 4. I have read on this site that imported models are restricted in speed - now (obviously, I haven't done this) but hypothetically, if I had undertaken a Mercedes who wouldn't move out of the fast lane at 125 mph - does that mean that my car is restricted or not? 5. Also I read that Japanese models have smaller fuel tanks - however, even when buying the cheap-skate fuel, I can still stick 60 quids worth in - how much can kids driving UK models put in their tank? 6. In the large central console bit, I have a wired phone adapter (but for a Japanese phone) - can I get a converter to convert that to fit a Sony Ericsson? 7. In the large central console bit, I have a random button - no idea what it does, the button is round and black if that helps? 8. I have heard that Japanese models have wing mirros that fold in when you turn the engine off and tilt down when you stick it into reverse - mine don't - would this be because I'm simple, or is it because the little fella that owned the car before me didn't get that option installed? Any helps with these questions would be greatly appreciated.
M13KYF
4. All JDM Z's are restricted. You can de-restrict it with a speed de limiter made by HKS. Search on the forum will give more info. There are a couple of types depending if you have a manual or triptronic, typeII is for manual and type III is for triptronic. They go on ebay for around £125 and can be fitted by yourself but if not a company like TDI will be able to supply and fit. Info on TDI is in the forum discount section
M13KYF
5. UK models have a 80 litre tank. As for how much to fill up, I fill with optimax and most I've paid is £70 but with the recent price changes, it owuld be less than that now
M13KYF
6. Is the phone connector look like a cable with a plug on the end or do you have a cradle in the central cubby?
M13KYF
7. Button may be to do with a alarm. Heard of similar.
janoof1
60 quid is the same as my uk model for a full tank, sorry cant help with the rest of the JDM questions they are all completely alien to me , not only would you have to worry about errors on the dials , but you got them on the sat nav screen as well !!!!!! ...... can you close the cubby -that might make the error sign go away;)
M13KYF
8> Yes its an option in Japan. Dont get tilt on UK models

Any helps with these questions would be greatly appreciated. This is a feature on some JDM's as part of the alarm system fitting, not all have it (mine does )

Any helps with these questions would be greatly appreciated. 1- Japanese Domestic Market 2- first time I saw the pit message but maybe with an ECU reset it'll clear it?? 3- no idea?? 4- sounds like yours has been de-restricted since the speed you could do if restricted is 112mph 5- my car from new with £5 worth of fuel took 73 litres of Optimax... 6- not sure tbh 7- pics would help but you seem to be the king of weird buttons 8- the second one you said
jim
8. My JDM has mirrors that fold in, but you have to press a switch in the driver's door console to operate them - they don't do it automatically.

Mrcofpep
Is this the connector to Q.6. I posted this about a week ago, but had no luck so far sourcing. I am told that you need a cradle from Japan rather than a UK cradle.
