st3ven1
Hello, been on the site for a couple of weeks now trying to gather information. I'm considering a zed for my next car, just have a couple of questions regarding the facelift that took place around 2006. Firstly do the cars with the facelift interior all have the 300bhp engine? Is it possible to have the 300bhp engine without the facelift interior? Only asking as I've seen 2006 non facelift car advertised as having 300bhp engine. Noticed a slight dip in price of the 06 plate cars without facelift, will this be due to them not being a facelift car(therefore not the 300bhp engine) and falling into the £400+ road tax band? Finally could anyone tell me if they felt any noticeable difference going from a 280bhp car to a 300bhp one? Thanks, Steven.
martinmac
Hi and welcome to the forum. Dont ever assume that dealers know what they are selling, this applies to Nissan dealers too. The 06 facelift has a few interior improvements but in my opinion there isnt much difference in performance.
st3ven1
So for instance, would you pay the extra 1k for this car over this one?
martinmac
Personally I wouldnt mind, I have a 05 car and dont really miss the changes.
Vik54
Welcome to the forum Steven Take heed of Mart's advice and ask plenty of questions of dealers. Most people say there's not much difference - and the 276 actually has more torque than the other two
st3ven1
I suppose overall condition comes into it as well, seen some with the orange leather look worn in places: bolster, gear knob & handbrake. Strange to have less torque in the higher hp cars, but as the saying goes: BHP sells cars, torque wins races.
martinmac
If you spot a car that is some distance away you can always ask someone local to have a look at it to save you wasting a journey.

bronzee
Welcome to the forum. Main thing is not to be too desperate and jump at the first Zed. Test drive a few.

dyla350z
Think the only pre facelift that are 296 are the anniversary editions, better getting a 276 and modding it as the anni seem to go for to much money imo.

st3ven1
Where abouts in Scotland do you live? I live just outside Aberdeen. Been to see a few others over the weekend, pretty set on getting one now, just need to be sure I can live without the turbo kick.

st3ven1
Just been having a look at some insurance quotes, has anyone else noticed that it is almost 50% more expensive to insure a roadster? Is this down to it being easier for a thief to break in? I've previously owned a wide variety of performance cars and for some reason, even though I'm older now(24), the insurance is more expensive. Would be interested in going with the club to knockhill on the 26th if I take the plunge before then.
