slimjim
Also... trying to work out the best way to link up the mic for the hands free. I THOUGHT the mic was next to the Dome Light... But the user manual seems to say different... Will have a look at lunch.
Wasso
That's probably right, there's a vented piece of plastic bottom left of the steering wheel. I thought that was some sort of climate sensor? Daft place to put a mic if you ask me! May not be so difficult to tap into this then. Nearly there eh!
slimjim
Yup... but as you so rightly said, OEM is pants! So I am going to try to trace the mic up to the top of the A-Pillar, see how it looks. Only have a few hours to work on her this morning as she is off to have the dents in her panels taken out... Wish me luck!
slimjim
While the Zed is having a few dents, chips and scratches taken out of it... I thought I would have another go at the tweeters... Drivers side this time. Think the drill and file worked a little better... don't you? Not a bad job I don't think... At least I now only have to source a replacement one for the passenger side when I can.
BulletMagnet
Did you say you are looking for a replacement passenger tweeter housing? Why I think I may have one knocking about. I will check once I return home from a days labouring to confirm.

Plus I kinda made a REAL hash job at the first attempt on that side, as you can see! Let me know what you want for it
slimjim
Took a bit of sorting... mostly because I didn't know how to take the door apart, then struggled to put it back together again... but it is all working now! With the bonus of now knowing exactly how to do it for the future.. Passenger door internals are now sound deadened DON'T FORGET TO CLAMP YOUR WINDOW UP!!! Why you should always clean the surface you are sticking your sound deadening too... Done... Profile foam for directly behind the speaker... This stuff is CRAZY expensive, but I was given a "sample" just big enough for behind each speaker Closed the door afterwards and it sounded VERY solid. Just with the one layer on. Where as before with the door fascia off it sounded very tinny. So I think the stuff is doing it's job all ready!
slimjim
Ohhh... also, forgot to mention the work she had done yesterday.... 1. A dent in the door on the passenger side... 2. One right on the crease in the middle of the drivers door... and also 3. one at the bottom of the drivers door. 4. Also two huge scratches 5. near the fuel cap ....6. and a BIG dent and scuff down to black plastic on the bottom of the rear bumper... So 6 places to fix... Can't see them all in these pics as I forgot to do a "before" photo for my records. But they were all big! I wanted the ones in the doors out before sound deadening. As it would be hard/impossible to do once this was on. The scratches are still on the doors... but the dents are gone, so when I get round to a re-spray, it can be done without removing the acoustic membrane. Pretty good job for £200... So... all that is left to do now is ... (wait for the huge list!) ........Sound proof the internal drivers door skin ........Run the extra remote wire for the rear camera ........Sound proof the outer door skins (Passenger AND driver side) ........Install the Speakers ........Install the Cross overs ........Wire crossovers and speakers up ........Wire in the Head unit ........Hide and wire in the bluetooth unit ........Chase the mic cable to the top of the A-Pillar ........Wire up the amp Then I can test it and start putting ALL the trim back in!!! I had a really bad 'whine' on my system and it drove me nuts till I sorted it I am "star earthing" everything.... so I should be fine. But thanks for the heads up! Just noticed this... Jim that pioneer unit looks great, i do love my own and it obviously has satnav too but im wondering if a unit like yours and a seperate satnav in the cubby would be nicer Damn you Did I say you can also bolt on a pioneer sat nav unit? So you can use it as a sat nav too... Which takes SD cards so you can keep it up to date. Pricey but I think I will get one eventually ... Just PM me your address and I'll send it out to you for say £10 + p&p?
