Advice on broken plastic on front grill please? :)

Hi all, when I bought my zed the front plastic grill was broken and I'm only just getting round to doing something about it. The plastic is snapped in several places and it droops down a bit. Not massively noticable but I wanna get it sorted anyway! I'm hoping someone could give me some ideas on what I can do to sort it out.

I've thought about trying to glue it in place but it's broken at the bottom and top and am not sure if glue would be strong enough to hold it all over.

Alternatively I've seen this nice looking black mesh grill replacement on the forums by ZMANALEX: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=31534&hilit=grill so I could rip the whole thing out and have this instead.

As I understand it, the plastic grill can't be replaced as it's part of the front bumper so it's never gonna be the same again, so perhaps the mesh replacement would be the way to go?

Unless you want to get a new bumper.... ££££

I would get a dremel and go the mesh route

Yeah I think I'm gonna have to go the mesh route!

Probably gonna try some glue first and see if it takes.

Thanks for your thoughts, fast too! :)

No chance with glue mate, you will need a super strong adhesive with polymer bonding properties to get that to stick back togther. Dont waste your time, whip it off as mentioned and stick the mesh in.....

Alex. :)

Yeah I like the look of that! :)

But taking off my bumper and permanently cutting things off... :scare:

I aint got the confidence to do that myself, I'll almost certainly bugger something up!

Easy, Peasy mate, at least 160 other forum members have managed.:lol::lol:

Then go the Zunsport route .... much easier

and 10 times more expensive ;)

fair point :surrender:

Alex, I'm curious about those clips, is there any movement after it's gone on or is it solid?

Here is a link on front bumper removal...

http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Front_Bumper_Removal

I think its possible to do without removing the wheels. I am sure Alex will confirm any issues you have (350z related  ) or problems you come across.

This is one of the mods I have on the list to do... and like you I am a bit :scare::scare:

high quality stainless, woven, welded and then coated, with lifetime warranty.

vs

pressed bit of aluminium worth 3 quid found on most corsa's and saxo's

tough call

im going to be honest and say i couldnt put a 3 quid bit of mesh on such a nice expensive car without feeling like one of the halfords crew.

burn burn burn burning ring of fire
