rawbhp
I want to replace my steering wheel but can't decide what finish to go for. I love the suede motorsport look and feel but I'm worried it won't wear well. Has anyone used one for a while? I'm also not sure whether to go for a slight dish or a flat wheel. I LOVE the Works Bell Team Orange wheel but I think it's no longer available Looking at these:
dcash5
Suede does wear and go shiny when just using bare hands. most use suede wheels as its really grippy when wearing racing gloves, edit: typo corrected
Ian
Team orange FTW Suede wheel won't wear well IMO, there was someone on here who had a suede wheel & it looked a bit scruffy after a while
captain
Suede does wear and go shiny when just using bear hands. Why use bear hands?
rawbhp
I knew you'd do that Ian! Love that wheel. I've checked all over the net and it seems to be discontinued. You need to sell me yours... Must try driving with bear hands...

Aust350z
When we say suede are we talking 'suede' or 'alcantara'? As my experience has been 'alcantara' wears significantly better than leather.
rawbhp
Not sure what the difference is, if there is any?
Digsy
Not sure what the difference is, if there is any? Suede is a natural material, alcantara looks and feels like suede but is man-made. I'm sure virtually all wheels you can buy will be alcantara.
rawbhp
Much clearer-thanks. Makes sense that alcantara would be harder wearing than suede if it's man made. Still not sure what to do about the wheel though. I guess a leather wheel will match the seats etc but won't feel as nice.
