IPDM + Wiring Harness

Hi Folks, had a big problem today where my engine cut out and would not restart. Taken it to the garage and they are saying th IPDM Module has water in it and the engine wiring harness (loom) is rusted. The quote for this is £2700 which is nearly all parts apparently, and there "may be other issues".

 

Does anyone know if this is a sensible price as it seems really high?

Best to get a second or third diagnoses and quotation on this one Will.

 

I should have all the parts (preowned) that you require (depending on your model) if you actually do require an IPDM.

 

Where are you based mate.?

How the hell diid that happen? Have you checked the harness yourself for rust? Second hand would be the route to go if you need to replace saw some on a us forum getting on for 150$... (preowned) so should be under the k mark anyway. I'd do what Alex said get a few more peps to have their say. Maybe take the oportunity to get a motec ECU :D not sure it replaces the IPDM though...

Intelligent Power Distribution Module ;)

Think its used to save the ecu if something goes belly up which it did in this case I guess. It's recommended to replace the bcm too... hope this never happens to me. Still troubled on how the water came in there in the first place....

Power supply only. No system control.

Headlamp, tail lamp, auto light system. Battery saver control.

Thanks for all the help guys.

 

I think the BCM is fine as the windows, wipers, central door locking and lights all worked fine after the engine had cut out.

but the lads 'say' that the bcm might have been causing it... (I'm not saying it is...) get her checked by someone that knows these fellas inside and out.
