spursmaddave
cheers for everyones help!! Went to PC world and played about with everything they had and for music quality and price the logitech Z323 2.1's (mains powered) you suggested dave were by far the best so bought them just gotta get the laptop now Thought you would like em, I got my son a set for his laptop at uni. 5.1 was a bit overkill in his case too, and a bargain for £40 I would keep shopping around for a laptop, just decide on the main stuff (memory/screen size/DVD or BluRay etc etc) and then go for the one you like the look of, bit like a car they all do the same thing just some are quicker and nicer to look at

Leeroy
I'm about to get a new laptop too and will probably use Dell outlet. http://www.euro.dell.com/uk/en/dfo/df.a ... d=df&s=dfo You can get their 'Studio' laptop with 15" HD screen, up to 500gb HDD, up to 4gb ram and 1gb graphics for about £500 all in. Sometimes they have Blu-Ray drives for hardly any more money too. They're factory re-furbs with a 1 year guarantee. Might be worth a look? maxi-glasgow
I bought myself the Acer 5738PG which has 4GB RAM although only a 320GB hard drive but the biggest advantage being it's a touch screen. And with it having Windows 7 it really takes advantage of the technology, downloaded a replacement desktop called Bumptop which is superb. It's like having a 3D room in front of you, your looking at the floor so you move the desktop icons where you want, press on one of the walls and it zooms onto that wall where you can hang photos or any other shortcuts. So you have much more real estate to play with. Don't think I could go back to having no touchscreen.

DoogyRev
The only view I have on 17" Laptops is they are big and heavy I have a 13.3" Dell XPS, and have 22" HDMI LCD monitor a wireless keyboard and mouse A 17" lappy if fine as long as you dont have to carry it any distance... unless your name is Arnie
shire350Z
The 17inch is only just over half a kilo heavier than the 15inch screen so think i can manage that I wont be transporting it much so that shouldnt be a problem Im thinking this one now http://www.ebuyer.com/product/180890#reviews Just dont know if a 250GB HD will be enough 3GB RAM should be enough Im worse than a women, just as i find one i thinks right i find another
DoogyRev
Im worse than a women, just as i find one i thinks right i find another Perhaps you should change your name to Shire-ette Hard drive - how much stuff have you got at the moment? In my experience when a HD gets to 65-70% full it will start to slow down. Also its always recommended that you don't have less that 15% free space 3Gb RAM will be fine for web browsing, music and office stuff....etc. If you use video, pic editing software (adobe/CAD), or play games it might chug a bit. When I get a new laptop I always uninstall or remove from startup all the crap they you will never need or use. PM me if you need any help

Also if you clog up a PC, especially a laptop with thousands of mp3s and pics all you do is sloooow it down..... Just my opinion anyway....
