maz0
Watch the for sales section and ebay, their quite sought after as far as i'm aware!
Husky
panel filter in an 06 airbox is best for power if you want something that will lose you power but sound cool, something like a pop charger would suit best.

Definitely don't want to lose power.... Do pop chargers not help the performance then?

Standard airbox with a performance filter is the best for power
Husky
pop charger will drink up the hot engine bay air. nissan did a pretty good job with the post 06 air box.
djrm
So my best option for power is a post 06 air box with a new filter yes? Is it possible to change the plain boring plastic piping to a shiny polished one on there too?
Ian
For sound, ARC wins easy

Correct Is it possible to change the plain boring plastic piping to a shiny polished one on there too? Yes you can, but it's best to get one that still uses the standard plastic MAF housing
Husky
arc for the bling factor
djrm
Lol now I am torn... I want maximum power from my car but also want the engine to look "WOW"... I want a standard box but fancy piping... and carbon.. and polishing
Mark@Abbey m/s
Plastic pipe works best as well , anything alloy holds heat so raising the inlet charge temp. Stock 06 box is best.
djrm
Stock box it is then! Is it possible to paint the box / piping using glossy heat resistant paint or plasticoat maybe??
Wasso
For sound, ARC wins easy I'll second that statement!! Sound and looks I love - I would contemplate swapping back to my 06 box - but Mark (naughty) drilled a hole in my ARC induction pipe for my NOS. Not that I'm too fussed as it's probably best there anyway. So I will have a 06 box and tubing available for sale. Although going on holiday next week so I shall sort something out upon my return. Got to admit don't think I could lose the sound of the ARC - it just sounds bliss!
Husky
Stock box it is then! Is it possible to paint the box / piping using glossy heat resistant paint or plasticoat maybe?? dont see why not, just test to make sure it doesnt react with the plastic first

djrm
Before I go out and buy an 06 box, is there a noticeable improvement from the standard box that I have at the moment? Thanks
Husky
minimal, may release more when tuned though may be hard to get hold of an 06 box, they are a bit thin on the ground at the moment... on a style note, i thought about getting some coloured heat wrap for my stock pipe, might look pretty and serve a slight purpose. jollyranchers
i would spend your money on other dress up engine bits and just fit an 06 box
djrm
I think that's what I am going to do. Just ordered a carbon engine cover off ebay and I will be either painting or polishing the plenum soon too
