PDean350
Hey guys I've got a quick question; A 350z I'm looking to buy from a dealer has what appears to be a K1 exhaust fitted, aside from this it appears to be factory spec, can you tell me how much of a difference should I expect to see for this single modification, if any? The car seems genuine and in good condition for the age - I'm just wondering if I'm going to get done over on insurance because of this single mod? Thanks! Zugara
Phone the insurance company and ask the question. Wouldnt have thought it wwould cause a huge hike in any costs though.
Ekona
Indeed, ring and ask them. Anywhere between £0 and £500, depending on insurer.
mattbowey
i told my insurance when i fitted a k1 and only had to pay an admin fee so as already advised. ring them, they might be ok with it but some insurers really dont like mods
philb1965
Some insurers won't touch you if the cars modded, so definitely check before you do the deal.
PDean350
Sound advice, thanks a lot guys Spoken to the dealer, it turns out the car also has an induction kit fitted, from how they described it, it does not sound like a pop charger, but we'll see, I'm getting it inspected early next week. Will give my insurance a call! The newbie questions will stop soon!
jollyranchers
if elephant is anything to go by , it was £30 difference in premium , with a £17 admin fee if a change is made mid policy
PDean350
Ah that's not so bad, I'll likely be with Swift Cover since they've quoted the best price for me so far (however was on a standard car). I'm currently a named driver on my dad's policy driving his mondeo about since I'm currently car-less for the first time in 6 years!
RisingPower
Was only £12.50 for changing to nismo on mine with admiral, surprised that elephant charge admin fees, ah well
350zStephen
Only £12.50? Admiral wanted £80 from me.
RisingPower
Only £12.50? Admiral wanted £80 from me. Thought it was cheap, but £80 seems a bit steep? Interestingly, on one online quote it seemed adding a bodykit decreased the premium. Go figure.
un1eash
I'm with elephant and my insurance went up by about £40 by declaring an exhaust, one good thing is its an exhaust/manifold mod so think i'll be getting some sport cats to go with my K1 now aswell as its classed as one mod. RisingPower
I was just wondering whether if you were to add the plenum spacer whether it would count as another mod, since it is technically changing the manifold, can't see anything else vaguely related on admiral.
