maxi-glasgow
With these kind of intakes, what stops rain water going right up the intake onto the filter? Especially when your driving along the motorway?
Daryl
Im guessing that it will improve the throttle response, the standard intake position is pants. I was looking at doing something similar to get cool air to my pop charger. As for the rain getting in,i dont think thats a major worry,as it will be going through a bend and up to the filter, even under full throttle,i think that the water would hit the wall of the pipe and evaporate. The filter will block any water anyway.
V88 REG
hmmm dunno i think now ive had a pop charger i prefer the standard box with a panel filter. I think it will help but surely the rain would have to monsoon it down to get in and up that would it?
yokomo
ive got a tube wiht a metal venturi funnel on the end runnign from right at the bottom of my grille back up to the air box and besides from tonnnes of buggs (i have to empty it out my filter every so often) no water gets sucked up in very heavy rain although ive not been silly enough to try driving through any deep puddles that may splash right over it . should still be ok though as you have to maintain an seal wiht the water or it would just fall out. Greekman
just a normal air duct should do the same job. many here have them. mine has got 2 for example. never had any issues with rain...and i v driven in some very hevy rain and a single carriageway going to edinburgh that was more like a lake. Stew
I think you'd have to submerge it to be an issue. I have the low mounted Injen intake (in front of the rad) with a hydrashield and I've never had an issue.
MrLizard
the air duct is the best advice, ive tried both, decent panel filter with the air duct cut in it is spot on...
