Gearbox failure, update pg3 and its not good news!

Cerealuk I wouldn't necessarily panic, the noise you mention is consistent with a noisy thrust release bearing - see thread viewtopic.php?f=10&t=39680. If you are worried though it may be worth checking out but it seems common to the car.

 

Thanks for that link, the car actually had a new clutch and flywheel kit fitted back in feb.. wondering if it was done badly (it was done before I got the car, I just have the receipts for the work which was carried out).

 

I think I may get it checked out.. any idea of cost for just having a look ?

alot cheaper than you guys may think!!!

 

Got the box fully checked and all the bearings replaced for £500 and my local garge who do all the work on my Zed (well its the same mechanic every time) only charged me £90 for taking the box out re-fitting and filling with 3litres of all :teeth:

 

So if anyone has a problem with the gearbox come see me :lol:

 

That's a FANTASTIC PRICE!!

 

I paid £500 for a second hand gearbox and paid almost £400 for fitting including oil...

 

Wow... Should have gone to your guy! :p
