glrnet
Hi, How long does your water temperature gauge take to reach normal from cold? By cold I mean left garaged overnight during the recent warm weather. Mine is at normal in no more than 0.75 mile, it just seemed quick to me and I wondered if this is normal. It doesn't appear to increase at all after this so hopefully nothing to worry about?
Zugara
Mine is about 1 mile from cold, stored outside.
M13KYF
as long as it runs at constant temp once warmed up then its fine. Better to warm up quickly than slowly I would of thought
Tricky-Ricky
Its designed to have a quick warm up, its a compact all aluminium V6, that also runs a thermostat bypass all the time.
Stretch
Mines also an 04 GT and when I first got her was quite surprised at how quick she came up to running temp but have since realised that's normal for the zed so theres nothing to be concerned about mate

rayhoop
Hi All, Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead.. Mmy car warms up quickly enough and the needle sits within the "normal range" on the gauge, but as it sits just below half way I was wondering whether this is normal? In my old Golfs, the needle used to sit slap bang in the middle of the gauge at 90.. Driving conditions being - taking it easy. Flowing A roads and Motorways. Current weather conditions. Not sitting in traffic. Totally standard car. I was wondering where your needle commonly sits under normal operation?

Zugara
Think you should start to worry if the temp creeps upward tbh

HassanZ
If you look carefully at the water temp gauge, you will see a very small dot/line right next to the circle the needle is attached to. At normal operating temp, the needle sits exactly on/just blow that mark.
Sam Mcgoo
As all have said above, thats perfectly normal. Just for information, the temp gauge has a massive dampened zone in the middle. Once at the normal position even when the temps get 100+ C the needle hardly moves.
rayhoop
That is handy to know about the little marker and the dampened zone. It is worth adding those to the 'little known facts' thread!
