A lot of heat coming from under the car

I have noticed when I open the door and the engine is running there is a lot of heat coming from under the car, although engine is running at normal temps. The cabin also gets hot very quickly and air-con is needed most trips. Is this normal??

Thanks

If you look under the bonnet, there's an engine the size of a small car, along with a big long pipe which exhausts gases, also a big set of breaks which also gain alot of heat. Add all this up and you get ? Alot of heat :p sorry for the sarcasm-- it is normal
