DarkLumen
Ok, so the rattle which has had all the mechanics I can find confused and looking for hairline fractures in wishbones (thanks nissan.....) has now been tracked to the steering rack, they are 100% sure that it might possibly, maybe, almost certainly be the problem.....they think They have said that a new rack will be £800 plus fitting but they could send the current one back to the factory and have it reconditioned for £200 which may or may not fix the rattling which is driving me a bit mad. So has anyone had a rattling steering rack when going over bumps and has anyone had one reconditioned? If so what was the outcome? I was also thinking of going to modified live 4 but I'm too ashamed to arrive at my first ever event with a stock rattling z
Zugara
Did it on a Ford Granada 2.8 Ghia, what a Fricking pig of a job. God knows what it would be like on a Zed...
ZMANALEX
I have done a few, which basically only involved swopping out the rods which are screwed into either side of the rack. An easier fix is just to swop out the complete steering rack with a preowned one. I have a low mileage preowned rack available if you wish to go this route. I also have spare rods and rod ends if you wish to overhaul. Drop me a pm if I can help you further. Alex.
