geoler
The Nismo cap is an upgrade to a higher pressure. I'm guessing you're joking as higher pressures would have a knock on affect requiring other component upgrades? Cheers, Geo

In old money stock is around 12.6 lbs and Nismo around 18.2 lbs. Alex.
neo-ninja
surely all it is, is a metal bung with nismo written on the top, how can it have any effect on pressure?
Wookiee22
I think Alex means that it is rated to a higher pressure.

neo-ninja
lol thats what i was trying to hint at... Thats all they are arnt they a radiator cap with a fancy badge on. There is no super advanced technology or crazy cryptonite infused aluminium that makes them any better? Or is there....(i dont actually know)
Wookiee22
I think (based purely on what Alex was saying) that the actual Nismo ones (not just a sticker) are rated to work on a higher pressure system than the standard ones, whether this be a result of a different design or different materials. Darren-B
The nismo one basically has a stiff spring inside resulting in it being able to hold a higher pressure within the cooling system

SteveW
And the higher pressure increases the boiling point of the coolant. So it has a functional purpose. Only downside is higher pressure can potentially create more fatigue on the plastic radiator end tanks meaning the rad won't last as long.
