gunmetalzgt
My wheels were getting in a right state so I decided to do a quick refurb at home I did them satin anthracite. Also a proper detail was in order including claying. Here are the results :-
UNABASHED
looks good, any difficulties doing the refurb yourself?
gunmetalzgt
Just the bubbles in the old paint were a barsteward to flatten down. You can still see where they were Apart from that they look pretty good and the most time consuming part of the refurb is the prep of the wheel before painting. Bundus
What paint did you use to do the wheels? Any special type that needs to be used? They look great. Mine need it too so was just wondering how you went about it. Im pretty handy with the aerosols, would just need to know how you prepped them and what type of paint/laquer was used. Nice work dude! gunmetalzgt
I used the halfords anthracite paint without lacquer to achieve the finish i wanted. That paint is specially designed for wheels so dries pretty hard. As for the prep work, i took off each wheel and thoroughly washed it and degreased it. then after letting it dry in the sun i sanded down all the really bad bits. I then sanded the whole wheel with a very fine paper. After this i washed the wheel again. after drying i masked up the whole rim ( you have to take your time here and make sure its perfect. Don't forget the valve too.) then it was time to paint. I used some grey primer and did 2 coats allowing 15 mins in between. Then about 3 coats of the anthracite. Ripped off all the masking tape and treated the tyres. DONE (ramsey style ) Job done.
