Scorpion Exhaust fitted but getting a rattle!

Metatron

Recommended Posts

So, finally got my Scorpion exhaust fitted and sounds fruity!!!!

Only problem is I get a rattle at low revs or going over bumpy surfaces/roads, which living in London is pretty much all the time!!

If it's not poorly maintained roads, it speed bumps everywhere grrrrrrrrrr

Anyway, I'm not entirely certain where the rattle emanates, I checked all the hangers and the pipe down to the cat and all seem stable, although having looked underneath I noticed that the pipe to the cat sits between a cross brace and the the floor pan and there's very little clearance, so I think that the pipe is vibrating against the two.

Does anyone have any ideas how I might eliminate this, if indeed that's what's happening.

Anyone experienced this before?

Cheers in advance y'all

hey bud,

i have the exact same problem. i need to take it and get it done. apparently it should be fairly easy to get it sorted. might mean just adjusting some of the hangers, or adjusting the flange couplings. i just need to get it up on ramps to take a look.

its a bloody awful noise too. sounds like a ropey old truck sometimes.

I have just had this fixed on mine. There is only the one hanger on the right as your looking at the rear of the car. It catches underneath either at low revs or when starting the car. I had a rubber sleeve attached to the hanger.

Dont suppose you have any pics of this matey? Do you mean the hanger on centre pipe or backbox?

Additionally...

Do all of your scorpion exhausts sit right? My left pipe is in more than the right one - no matter what I do I cannot get it perfect.

I don't have any picks but the sleeve is on the hangar. Its very difficult to get any exhaust perfect I think (even the standard) as there is only the 1 hangar on the right (as you look at the rear of the car). Pretty sure thats the reason anyway.

Theres two on the right of mine, one on the left :)

You were right, the back right hanger was vibrating. I put a rubber door stop over it from B&Q and its perfect now :)

Couldn't remember the number of hangers, at least its solved now though. I know how annoying mine was and its such a relief to be able to pull off without it sounding like a clapped out banger!!!! :)

Satisfying when its all in good n proper. It took two of me weekends up but its now dead straight, not rattling, and sounding awesome :D

Cheers for the help

If I'm under the car again soon I'll get pics - it will be useful for future Scorpion buyers
