thebesh
Hi Guys Sold my old car (206 Gti) last night and have bought myself a 350z It's a 313GT and I'm getting it on Tuesday - WELL excited. So..... a question about Petrol! Is SUPER unleaded really necessary? One of my mates used to have a 350z and met a buy at a Petrol station with a Lambo - the guy in Lambo is filling up with bog standard tesco value juice and they ended up having a conversation where he thought it wasn't worth it!! Whats the general consensus? Hopefully should be posting on here more often now
Vik54
Congrats on your purchase Here's one of the many threads about pros and cons of petrol viewtopic.php?f=10&t=38304

Whats the general consensus? Was that Ellis? I seem to remember him telling me about that. I use V power most of the time. Occasionally use 95 if I'm caught short and in the back of beyond. thebesh
Yeah it was Senior Ellis that told me that story He's in Oz just now, just mailed him pics of the car!
D4XNY
I had this very same question when I bought mine The truth is, the manual actually says to put fuel of a higher ron in the car, and only put in normal unleaded if a necessity. The engine is designed to run on higher octane fuel, so therefore thats what I always put in mine. Simples... why buy a sports car, and make it underperform??? Stew
Oh well, Chris guided you to the right place. Nice meet coming up in a couple of weeks (if you aren't at TITP) in Aberdeen area.
bodyboarder
My thoughts were i have spend 16k on the car whats an extra £5 to fill up with the best drink for it!
Demolition49
fact is the Z is tuned to run on 98 octane or better... most fast jap cars i believe are tuned to run at 100 octane so if the manufacturer tunes them to that standard going below isnt the greatest of ideas.... not only this but as many have stated, for the difference of 5 quid a tank more its hardly worth filling your car with the crap stuff when you can have the better stuff? You can benefit from a better MPG and performance using higher octane fuels and thats pretty much proven! So i would reccommend you put nothing but v-power or tesco momentum - 99 thats just me... as for the fuel, i dont look at the price i just drive in a fill it up, having a car like the z i dont think let me scrimp, its best to look after it properly, and in the end i think it shows, both in resale value and reliability of the car and performance and so many other things... you look after your car and it will look after you by the way im a bit OCD with my cars
Neilp
Shell v-power everytime
CaptainSensible
Absolutely no point buying a high performance car like the Zed, then skimping on fuel, buying the cheapest tyres etc. If you can't afford to run it you should trade it in for a diesel vectra
tez162003
just read the inside of the filler cap. 97 ron fuel. enough said. loss of performance. not as clean burning etc etc etc
