Oh dear, this detailing lark is expensive!

Just spent the grand total of £306.13 on 'stuff to clean the car with'.

Although, that does includ a pressure washer and snow foam lance which knocks it down by just over £100!

even so, £200 on cleaning products! :scare:

My kit now contains:

Karcher pressure washer

Snow foam lance

5l snow foam

megs detailing brush

dodo juice swabs

4l megs all purpose cleaner

dodo juice lime prime

dodo juice red mist

dodo juice mellow yellow wheel cleaner

dodo juice metal polish

megs water magnet drying towel

some other drying towel which will be used for the wheels

tons of microfibre cloths

about half a dozen applicator pads

megs wax (cant remember which one)

megs wash mitt

couple of buckets

megs car shampoo

rain-x

and some spray bottles!!!

My girlfriend is gonna kill me! :stretcher:

hopefully though most of that should last a good while.

didnt realise there was so much choice available! not good for a spend-a-holic like me!

wouldn't care, but it isn't even my car

Is there anything i am missing from my list, i hope not!

Should be set up for a while with that lot! To be fair, its not often that you have to fork out that much. That lot should last you a good couple of years before needing to replace stuff (bar snow foam). Most of the stuff will last for years and years

 I purchased the "Supernatural" wax at the Wales meet - I walked in the dinning area and my other half looked at me and said what's that I replied "Hair Gel" - as it was in a pot very similar.

Had she of known that it was for the car and cost £60 I'd be given a :blackeye:

To date she doesn't know the cost

I have to agree the cost of cleaning a car is very expensive.... let me know how the snow foam goes as I have a Karcher kit and quite keen to see how it performs!

And you have a grey car so will still look like its in primer :p

now that's not very nice :p

we originally were looking for the azure blue, but they seemed to be out of our price range for a car with higher mileage, the gm one was a bargain at what we got it for so we are over the moon. never had a grey car before and always said i never would, but it doesnt half shine when it's clean!

this was taken 2 weeks after i detailed it. I gave it a wash before popping to tesco for some beer, still looks B) i think, even on my crappy phone camera!!

As above you need a clay bar (and lube) to do a proper clean on it before polishing...

I spend £130 the other month on wax, polish, clay bar and applicators/mit/towels etc. but my car's never shined so much, and the supernatural will ast me years.

Same here - missus has no idea how much I spent on cleaning products :dummy:

got a microfibre one from monza car care. and i use the megs lock brush for the wheels too, brilliant little brush it is too.

a decent wax??

meguires dont seem to be capable of making a good wax imo, im a big fan of hard waxes.

can never have too many micro fibres, costco's the way too go for that.

ez detail wheel brush.

clay as previously said

Megsuires pro range Last Touch just buy it. best thing i have.

grit guards.

a degresser.

leather cleaner and conditioner? leather permitting.

and next jump...

a machine polisher, with tons of pads. tons of polishes, decent backing pad, 500w lighting, and a crap load of patience. I think my biggest single buying session resulting in around £450 - 500 but i did used to detail alot of other peoples cars.

i wouldnt bother with clay lube, just dilute some shampoo in a spray bottle at about 10:1 and use that, i bought some dodo juice born slippy a few weeks back and its cack!!! i gave up halfway through doing the car with it and carried on with the shampoo lube

Having just taken delivery of my pressure washer and snow foam lance/snow foam and taking into account the list mentioned. What should my detailing process be as i haven't actually had a proper go at it yet.

thanks

Michael.

Ok I'll list em off in order:

- jetwash car using just water, get underneath arches etc.

- using snow foam give the car a good layer of snowfoam and let it come off, but be careful in direct sunlight, rinse the rest off using PW.

- get rid of all tar spots and contamination, using tardis or tar remover etc.

- give it another layer of snow foam then wash using 2 bucket method.

- rinse off suds

- clay car

- rinse off and dry using drying fowl and quick detailer as a drying aid

- polish.

- clense paint using lime prime

-wax

Enjoy lol

I've just spent another £50 but i'm not spending anymore now, at least until september. I bought bulk stuff so it should last me.

its the accessories that cost me the money. i bought a snow lance/pressure washer/alsorts of brushes/applicator pads/swabs/towels/drying cloths! it all adds up!

I use last touch also not many people seem to use it on here. I know you can dilute it 1:1 for clay lube. I use born slippy concentrate.
