ODB2 Cables

I'm looking at getting hold of an ODB2 cable for the car pc that will eventually be plugged into the zed.

Are there any gotcha's I should be aware of, looking at them they range from £10 to £80, not I'm quite happy with a £10 USB2 jobby, but not being that familiar with them I thought it was worth asking around before I waste my money.

Is yours a JDM or UK car? That will help limit your choice :)

+1 - JODB can play havoc. If you have a UK car (EOBD) then its much easier.

The generic ELM327 readers on eBay work fine for UK cars and are a lot less expensive than others. Remember the port on the 350z is under the steering column to the right. This means you need something with a slimline connector. I got a generic ELM327 which was a box with a USB and OBD cable, took the OBD connector apart and slimmed it down so you couldnt see it. The other option is to remove the mounting screws for the OBD port, and hide it all behind the dash.
