Posted this on the Sky insurance bit, but thought i would repost here to stop Ollies thread filling with discussion.

My Insurance has rather gone up this year now that I have to declare myself as "modified" due to the Nismo exhaust, but it wasn't helped by the fact that Esure told me porky pies last year that anything on the manufacturers options list (in my case the Nismo kit) didn't count as a modification; wrong! Thanks for letting me drive round all year with probably invalid insurance boys!

Think they need to look at their operator training!

I think bodykits are a grey area when it comes to the options list, not heard of anyone managing to get a bodykit insured as OEM before that's for sure!

I think a lot of the telephone staff need educating a bit more in modifications when they are the ones deciding how much extra to charge you for them. I remember trying to explain an ECU reflash to Liverpool Victoria and had to give up after 15 minutes as it got me nowhere. Far better now with the likes of Sky and Chris Knott, very refreshing when they know exactly what you are talking about and made a much more informed decision based upon that info!

Would it be worth declaring an ECU flash?

It's hard to say, I've seen folk get their insurance made null and void for not declaring Go Fast stripes, and then I've seen a Golf owners claim go through fine when he hadn't even declared his alloys which were about 40 inches too big for his car, and the other 20 tacky mod's he had done.

If you wanna be safe then just declare everything.
