Husky
Nup mate, it's a 3000degree blow torch for welding. The dremel will leave marks I think. The blow torch melts the welds and the actual stud comes away leaving no marks. The inside stud is a bitch to get near due to the angle. The dremel will work but I bet a metal shop will do it for a tenner and do it in seconds lol. Save yourself the hassle lol i know what it is yeah, next time i might send it in to the shop to get it done but how else to you learn about your car if you dont do it yourself the first time round

mattbowey
this thread is briliant, its all about DIY imo, although i have a mechanic next door so its kinda cheating when i use his lift and all his tools and ask him for help every 5 mins and "LUBE ftw" and have you tried bashing and then bashing, think thats the only possible combination you missed. SteveW
Feel your pain my exhaust was also a PITA I resorted to a big angle grinder to get it off in the end. The Y pipe to mide pipe bolts were super tight took some big effort to get that off!

Husky
Ok so i sat with a tiny dremel bit an little bit at a time cut away at the stud head... it took a few hours and a few dremel discs... but i got rid of it then i decided as doogyrev had done a great job of polishing the tips i would finish them off. so this time i decided while i had the dremel out to put a tiny polishing bit on it and use megs metal polish then i got my flood light out and from about 10:30 to 11:15 fitted the backbox with a fresh new bolt. AND i decided not to jack the car up to do it have to say now ive done it enough times it wasnt too tough and really you dont need to jack it up to install one its on now and loks like this HAPPY DAYS!!!
