What engine oil?

Hi Guys,

 

I know how an engine works but I have to admit I'm totally clueless about what engine oil is best for the Zed.

 

Any advice? Part or full synth? What type?

 

Any specific brands and types you recommend?

Someone is bound to say "do a search this has been covered loads of times" and they are right. But the people that say that usually smell of dirt buttons IMO.

 

Common thinking is 5w-30 would be a good choice for just road use, the 5w-40 if you track it. Fully synth always. Some traders on here do good deals.

any quality oil to be honest 5w30 or 10w40

 

club favorite is silkolene pro S althogh this is going to be changed to Fuchs new Titan range. same old oil new name thats all.

 

personally i use royal purple, but thats because i like the be different. came highly recommended by a BTCC team.

 

basically don't put cheap crap in.

Very informative, backed up by lab analysis of the used oils indicating which oil used, miles done and standard or modified engines.

Lots of good oils to choose from.

CAUTION over 900 pages

 

Mobil 1 0w40 did quite well.

Surprisingly Mobil 1 5w30 didn't despit 5w30 being our recommended viscosity.

Apparently the 5w30 is a totally different blend
