sinbad
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Nissan-350Z-Stain ... dZViewItem Seen these on ebay, ixtab_imports are selling them and they have a good rep from what i can gather on their feedback. would they be worth a try at that price? what will be required to fit these? Sarnie
No idea about the headers but WELCOME
buds
Seen them two. Tbh at that money its very tempting to try them out. Unless someone is along shortly to tell us not to! Would be great to get a car dyno'd before and after them, just to see.
Removed
bah, you risk losing hp instead of gaining any tbh. wonder what brand are they copies of
captint
Would that be the case with a headers such as DC's and HKS?
Guest prescience
With the twists in those pipes, you will affect your airflow and almost certainly lose power. Others, well look at the design, the straighter the design, the better the flow etc
captint
I thought the point of the twist's with polished headers was to release air at different points and reduce back pressure, that was a bhp losing problem see article link http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question172.htm
Guest prescience
If you really believe that air will flow without turbulence in the pipes shown, go for it
captint
Chill winston, just passing some alternative info around
Guest prescience
Hey man, I am chilled - I'm not the expert, you might put them on and get gains; I don't think so, but its just my opinion
captint
no thats cool, I respect what your saying, and I'm not saying I'm right either, in reality, I have to research from a site called how stuff works to brush up on mechanics, so when it comes to advice, I'm lower than Ronnie Corbet in the rankings. Guest prescience
TBH don't you think also, the pipes look a bit on the narrow side. Do you know who's make they are - I can't see if it says that on the ad?
Matt Cave
I thought part of the challenge with header/manifold design was that the relative LENGTH of each branch is important, specifically they should all be of similar or ideally equal length to give consistent harmonic effects across cylinders. Hence why the rear (and to lesser extent middle) outlet pipe needs more bends it to make it the same length as the front pipe? I'm not very familiar with V6 engines but that's the general principle on a most (and I mean *most*, not all) inline 4 cylinder engines. Guest prescience
That is quite true but as you will know from fiuid dynamics, any flow around turns is highly prone to turbulence. I am perhaps being unfair to this product without seeing it in the flesh, but on initial inspection I have reservations that is all There are for sure some good headers out there, Crawford, NIMSO and Borla are all leading names with Crawford getting mentioned in dispatches more than most
captint
I think thats right, hence they twist to maintain length, and avoid Back pressure by ending up at differnt points, in theory. But it's also true that the air would not be as free flowing as they twist
captint
I know that when Evo fitted the DC ones to their Fast Fleet Z they were very impressed.
bernmc
Have a look at this vid: http://paultan.org/archives/2006/04/12/ ... gine-test/ Watch it to the end, and you'll see just how twisted an F1 manifold is. They seem to manage a moderate power output , so I think there's a bit more to it than big pipes in straight lines .
Removed
I only know there's no point in me buying some since they are redundant for a TT setup... :teeth:
Guest prescience
Thanks for finding that link again, it was taken down from another site Great vid Wonder how much R&D they put into their header development? Those curves are all nice and circular like the CERN acclerator though aren't they
