ben p
What width of tyre will fit on a 18" ray's alloy on the rear of an 06 coupe? the only reason I ask is i've found some 255's cheaper then 245's. And would It be beneficial or detrimental to put wider tyres on?? Thanks guys.
marzman
Altering the width will affect the height of the tyre, thus affecting the rolling radius, and then causing very annoying TCS problems. So i'd definitely stick with the standard sizes.
ben p
Sounds good, thanks for the advice!
busa1300
If the profile of the 255 is 40 the rolling radius will be the same.
Ekona
If the profile of the 255 is 40 the rolling radius will be the same. No it won't, it'll be 2.4% smaller. Profile is a percentage of the width, don't forget.

Ekona
Tbh I wouldn't expect an issue with running tyres that little out of spec anyway: Certainly dropping to 40 profile with the R888s has made no difference to the TCS that I can tell so far. rtbiscuit
i know what husky is fitting and i think we'll all know when he's driving as the planet will spin quicker they'll have that much grip they'll be resurfacing the roads behind him
