ikarus
Really want some of these soon, for a carbon hood. I know Envy were looking into a modified version. Any updates or any one else got alternatives? Thanks
BladesGrant
I got some off ebay the other day and they are nice, would need some gas letting out for a carbon though. Think the seller was crome manics.

BladesGrant
You could also speak with Mark (madmarky) as he has some on his carbon bonnet and he mentioned a company near him that will specifically make them to your measurements so its not too high or low, depending on what you are after. Madmarky
Best bet is buy a cheap set off Ebay to get the brackets. Then work out how long you want the new gas strut to be, the longer the strut the higher your bonnet will open but i personally recommend leaving the relatively short the carbon bonnet dont like the wind too much. Once you have this measurement you can ring a company up the road from me called Gas Stuts on 01234 221430. Speak to a guy called Mike Lacey and tell him you want some struts made for a carbon bonnet he will know how much pressure to put in them as standard, think its about 100 lbs. You have the option of getting them in stainless or black (you could get some vinyl at a later date and wrap em any colour). Then you can just send them the brackets so they can get the correct fitments on the struts. I personally went for the stainless and they come with a release valve so you can let some pressure out if they are too strong, you can always get them to re-fill em if you take too much out. Feel free to pm me if you have any more questions, heres what mine look like:

Did the ones you bought fit well, and were they a good price? Yeah they fit pefect after I had made cut outs in the battery and fluid surrounds. And they only raised the bonnet to the same height as the original. I got them in black for about £44 delivered. I will take some pictures for you when I finish work. At 44 of my cheapest pounds that smells like a good deal if so . More so if the struts are good too
BladesGrant
The kit comes with complete brackets and struts. Nothing additional required to fit. It just won't be the correct pressure for a carbon bonnet I would have thought as its pretty much spot on for my aluminium one. Would have thought this was too much pressure for a carbon hood, sure its not a hard job to release some of the gas though.

I think if they're adjustable they will have a release valve on them, otherwise not. I discussed this witht he comany that provided my rear hatch struts. I'm not sure how much difference there is between a standard ally bonnet and a carbon fibre replacement with regards to weight, maybe they don't need to be less pressure:shrug:
Madmarky
If your bonnet is like mine you need about 100lbs of pressure, you have to be really careful tho.
