HEADPHONES
Quick questions to help me "BIN THE BOSE" 1. Double DINs look fantastic but I'd even have a single over my failing Bose. The only thing putting me off a fancy double DIN unit is lack of removable front facia. Has nobody ever had pondlife damage their zed trying to nick one? 2. Many say the fitting of a new stereo is pretty straight forward, but I have little time to wash the zed let alone try something new likefitting a stereo . So is it simple enough a job to entrust to Halfords? 3. If you gurus reckon I should steer clear of Halfords and go to a specialist, do you think I should give them a printout of some of the fitting guides on here if they haven't done a zed before Any advice is much appreciated and I hope I've not bored everyone with the same old questions
BulletMagnet
I'd steer clear of letting Halfords do the job, best look up a specialist. Alternatively, you could prolly find a member that lives close by to lend a hand.
Roo
You can get them with removable facia from about £400 and dvd too http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product ... -25928.htm
waylander
I have just installed a JVC avx830 http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/search.asp?criteria=avx830 which has a detachable facia. Its has blue tooth, plays dvds and many more options. But the biggest difference is the quaility of the sound coming from the original bose speakers . I installed this myself and I have never had any experience installing a HU before, quite scary at first but in the end afterwards I had a massive big grin on my face . There are quite a few DIY guides on the net and a member here (yokomo) was great help when I couldnt get any sound from my install !! MattG
I can highly recommend a mate of mine for the job. He does Auto Electrics, Car Audio and Security. Here's his contact details: Trilogy Unit 1, Peel Street, Stalybridge SK15 1SR 07711079779 His name is Tim and I've been taking my cars to him for years. I sent tons of people there and they've always thanked me afterwards. He put two amps, a sub, a new head unit (single DIN) and some front speakers with door pods in my 350Z and it sounds great! He can supply all the parts if required but you will probably find he can't quite compete with the big online guys when it comes to prices for head units etc. He's happy to fit stuff you've sourced yourself though and his labour charges are very fair. Just don't buy any of those cheap double din head units from ebay, he's seen tons of them fail! You need to be careful about who you let mess around with the electrics in your car as the consequences of getting it wrong can be a real pain. There's a lot of cowboys out there so I'd be wary of playing the Halfords lottery unless you've had a personal recommendation. If you decide to give him a call tell him Matt with the white 350Z sent you. If he's unsure of where to get the connectors for the steering wheel controls (assuming you need them) tell him to give me a ring as I supplied the ones he fitted to mine and can give him the name of the company I used. HEADPHONES
Matt, you're a star I'm more than happy to spend a little extra through him if he knows how to treat a zed. Just need to pick out a nice double DIN unit then give him a call I haven't seen many whit zeds on my travels in Manchester. If you see a chinese guy in a nismo kitted sunset waving.....it's probably me
