tapps10
Please can someone let me know how I go about disabling the passenger side airbag on my 2004 350Z. I have a 6-year old son and need to be able to take him out for the odd spin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ashley
Roo
Dont think it can be done easyly but a similar question has been asked before. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23593&p=341937&hilit=child+seats#p341937 and viewtopic.php?f=9&t=35004&p=522067&hilit=airbag#p522067
M13KYF
yep, cant be done unless you actually disconnect the airbag from under the seat but then you will turn off the whole system
rtbiscuit
only need to disable airbags for rear facing chairs
M13KYF
only need to disable airbags for rear facing chairs i think the system if detecting a fault (ie one of the airbags has been disconnected) then it turns off the whole system. Airbag error light will also be on on the dash
Ebized
When you go to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23593&hilit=child+seats&start=0 Bullet Magnet has posted up extracts from the manual. The 'don'ts' are related to rear facing child seats and children under 12 using the passenger seat, but you will see that if you use an approved front facing child seat that is OK. ZMANALEX
Fitting a resistor to the front airbag will disable it.
nixy
I don't think you should be disabling it. I looked in the manual the other day when i had my nephew in mine. There was a load of back covering waffle about not taking an under 12 in the car as children should be in a back seat. It then said if you have to, use an approved front facing child seat and put the seat as far back as possible. So do NOT disable the airbag. I would agree - disabling the airbag might also disable the insurance
