Removed
been busy too, refurbing my skirts (once I took them off I saw they were in a bit of a sorry state underneath the car, not that you could see it, but you KNOW it ) some nice G3 action on specific scratches, overall wash but no wax, yet. Will put the skirts back on tomorrow and wax it all.
Emperor Ming
Also been out cleaning cars. Did mine yesterday and used the Carnuba wax for the THIRD time The shine is now starting to really come through. With the wax now on in several layers I reckon I will not need to polish at all. Just wash and wax. Certainly for several months. With my lad and his mate we have washed and waxed two Corrado's and washed and polished a Toyota Celica. All three hoovered out and properly cleaned as well. Whilst my wheels were off for the pads being changed I cleaned the insides of the fronts!! It gets addictive. jim
Bloody hell Ming, Fantastic transformation Absolutely!!!! What a brilliant restoration. How much dismantling and re-assembly was needed to transform the engine bay?
Emperor Ming
Bloody hell Ming, Fantastic transformation Absolutely!!!! What a brilliant restoration. How much dismantling and re-assembly was needed to transform the engine bay? The bits for the engine bay I loaned from a mate of my eldest lad - they are into the chav thing so know people with hondas - and I got them powder coated at a local firm I do a lot of business with. (The results are stunning and the colours are top notch - watch out for my PLENUM and Induction kit!!) All I needed was a new gasket which again was free and i fitted the lot and fully cleaned the bay in two days! Actual fitting time was no more than four hours. Having done it once I could cut that time in half. Its sad but I wont even drive a dirty car and once cleaned the engine bay of a £200 escort with a brillo pad and tooth brush!! Ming the slightly mad

H5
OK Ming, you've clearly declared war. Will pull out the pictures of my (now stolen) 10 year old show car......!! I did the inside of all the wheels and that was just a wash, removal of defects and initial polish. Waxing to come with the carnuba, just got to choose one first........ Ming, have you got a bonnet pic of yours as a comparison to mine?? Leather treatment, and shampoo to follow, with the waxing. Very therapeutic! Got to drive it now. Gonna get dirty tho! buds
Look forward to the pics H5! Ming its been said before, but that transformation is bloody amazing! A change of career for you perhaps ? With that detailing you could make nice money
Emperor Ming
H5 Firstly an apology. I posted the Honda pics without thinking and did not mean to steal you thunder - and your thread. You engine bay is looking good and clean and is going to be a great base for further enhancement. OK Ming, you've clearly declared war. Will pull out the pictures of my (now stolen) 10 year old show car......!! Can't wait mate. Any man that cleans like i do is a mate for life!! Show me some pics!! I did the inside of all the wheels and that was just a wash, removal of defects and initial polish. Waxing to come with the carnuba, just got to choose one first........ Whilst we changed the pads the other day I did the insides of the wheels - well you have to don't you!!Ming, have you got a bonnet pic of yours as a comparison to mine?? Below pic as requested. Please look at the UNDERSIDE of the bonnet itself. Trick job but worth the effort in my opinion. Leather treatment, and shampoo to follow, with the waxing. Very therapeutic! Got to drive it now. Gonna get dirty tho! I only get mine dirty so that I can wash it again!! Three Carnuba wax treatments in as many weeks means BIG Shine!! As your engine bay and mine are both bog standard how about a blow by blow (Pic by Pic) competition to see who can produce the best engine bay. Judged by the site in a poll in say 12 months time and the looser buys the winner a six pack?? I will admit now that I have some bits ready to go under the powder coaters attentions to start the ball rolling. I would not want it said that I set the challenge with an unfair advantage! Ming the Challenge setter!

H5
Me and my big mouth!! Yep, the challenge is on, however your starter pics are in much sunnier conditions. I'll get my camera out when the sun appears later!! BTW, it's clear we went to the same School of Geek as the underside of my bonnet is the same. Have just downloaded your pic and put it next to mine of the engine bay and it's spot the difference time!! So what are the scoring criteria.....?? BTW, no need to apologise Ming, I love seeing cars with a little TLC!
rickya
Nice pics & hard work Ming!! ps how do you show big pics like yours on photobucket? Mine keep getting reduced to a smaller size when I upload to photobucket & photobox??

BTW, no need to apologise Ming, I love seeing cars with a little TLC! Hi H5 Agreed. I did make the most of the sunshine. Its also good that both cars are Gun Metal Grey. There is not even going to be a 'well I prefer ............. colour' issue. I reckon we continue to post pics as we go along and store a couple of 'work in progress'files somewhere. On a set date next year we meet up at a show somewhere and let the club members decide. Those that can't make it get to vote on the photo files and the winner gets the six pack and trophy of 'King of Bling' It will be a straight H5 or Ming vote! Any other suggestions greatlfully accepted mate! I would open it up to other site members for suggestions but cetain persons on here would end up suggesting nude polishing or inserting vegetables in your exhaust pipes for extra points or other such inane ideas!! I can't wait to start taking things off so that I can clean BEHIND and UNDERNEATH them!! The PURPLE is coming! What plans do you have mate or is that going to be a little surprise along the way? Ming the ready PS Where are the pics of your show car? Show me those and I will show you what we did with my GTO Twin Turbo engine bay. (I'm sad I have loads and loads of pics!! )

(I'm sad I have loads and loads of pics!! ) Pics of the show car in the way. A mate has much better ones than mine and not always had a home PC - work scanned my old laptop for pictures. I'll get some more pics up soon of the Zed and the Rudeboy when I get them sent. I can't wait to start taking things off, sending them away and then putting them back on...... Did I mention my bro works at Prodrive in the composites department??? Plans so far are to clean everything and anything with a slight blemish replace. Last time I found a stone chip on my bonnet, I got a new one. (H5 the Obsessed!) Then decide on a theme..... You? As for a side by side test, anything like that is good. Show or meet to compare will do the trick. Then 6 pack it is. BTW, show car was more interior and exterior, and not so much engine bay. I even got checked for dust under seats and finger prints on plastics!!
H5
And just to check, anything like chips that cannot be rectified without a respray don't come into the judging process? Fair?
Emperor Ming
And just to check, anything like chips that cannot be rectified without a respray don't come into the judging process? Fair? Agreed mate. After all it is my every day car and is not garaged. I see it as all about being CLEAN and subtle. Theme wise the car is going to stay reasonably standard. There will be no great big ironing board/shopping trolley spoilers on the back or lips so low it grounds out on a pea. The engine bay will be simple with one colour added to what is already there. It will however be VERY VERY clean. I have plans to replace several bits under the bonnet and each bit I add will in one way or the other be changed from standard. The interior has not yet been considered as it is already comfy and, with leather, quite nice looking. I have a set of quality Nissan mats that finish it off nicely. The boot area is one I have a few ideas for. (Don't worry there is not going to be great big speakers and subs and amps everywhere I am far too old for all that!! ) Hell i am giving far too much away here!! What plans do you have mate??
