cfoster
has anyone on here attempted this yet? Seen a few posts on my350z.com and quite fancy giving it a go. Not too worried about baking the lights to get the lense off, but concerned about what bits to paint and what not to paint! Done a quick search on here and found nothing! Also matt or gloss black?! Anyone got any decent pics?

nurrish
I have black internals and had no problems with the police or anything like that lol So no issues at MOT time? I was told that the insides need to be reflective so that you get the most light out...and without the reflection it is not as bright/illegal

Jay
Not the best pic in the world.... but you can see what parts are painted black. Paul T did these for me and i have had no problems with the painted internals at all
P15UL T
Cheers jay. Basically the outer piece can be painted and the piece whhere the indicator bulb goes. Best not to paint the other part where the high beam bulb is Paul
Stew
Don't paint the reflective bit. You're car would be illeagal and undrivable when dark. You can paint the outer part though.
andlid
Nurr hope you read this before you paint the whole thing black

GT4 Zed
I really want to do this mod but it will have to be black all the way Its popular in the states and i managed to pm one chap who had this and he did not have any night driving issues I don't think it will be illegal and also if it will make much difference on the brightness as the zed's light is a projector type light. There a loads of cars with this type of arrangement and black internal surround

ikarus
Can yo apply a film? that way it can be removed easy if it becomes an issue.
Harman350z
I suppose that could be an option, but could you then have heat issues, hot bulbs and melting film inside a plastic box = possible danger? i have no idea haha.
yokomo
plus wouldnt you have to crack them open again to remove the film ?
Harman350z
plus wouldnt you have to crack them open again to remove the film ? Now that would be embarrasing.
cfoster
This is what i'm after Now that would be smart, any more info on it? As said earlier up as they are projector lights I dont think they need the reflector bits?
Harman350z
I do really like the look of that one, and in my eyes i would not see the need for the reflectors as you say the headlights are projected and not reflected... Obviously the reflectors are for your high beams and indicators but the bulbs are actually really bright and i think the light they create would suffice.. (and who needs high beams? )
cfoster
Indeed im happy to give a bit of brightness up for that look!!!! Might post a thread on my350z.com
cfoster
Just found this link, seems that you still get 80% main beam with them all black? Are the pics 06+ lights though, not sure how to tell? http://www.myspace.com/twistedhouzings Chris
