ICrashIn2000
Hi All, nice to meet you and great to find a forum like this. Now, I must apologise if this isn't the right area for this request but does anyone out there have any recommends for garages/dealers/mechanics/specialists etc. who could keep my Z running in tiptop condition? I'm in Hampshire but happy to travel a reasonable distance to find someone who is really good and reliable and knows these cars well. Thanks for your help guys and gals. narcotix
I think it could be a little too far for you but I always use CS for all my zed related work .. They're based in Leicester, which is handy for me as I am too! I'm sure some other members around your area can recommend someone closer .. Ebized
Welcome to the forum. TGM sport at Fleet in Hampshire is a closer to you and although they gained their reputation with racing Hondas they have a particular like for 350/370's, and I have been very pleased with their work . Some of the more "specialist" garages charge more for their expertise, so wouldnt use them for normal servicing etc, just for bigger jobs, but Tom and the chaps know their stuff and possibly the most competitive rates around

Generally those that have more knowledge (and experience doing engine builds, TT builds etc) which attract a higher rate, and rightly so, but for smaller jobs, where thats not required there are more economical alternatives. Just pointing out the options Not really on servicing, const difference is minimal unless your getting a deal. Also you will find that the "specialists" use the service parts offered by Nissan and also use Nissan CONSULT and have Nissan trained staff, thus you can still say that you have a FNSH. Personally I would pay that little bit more to people that work on 350z's / 370z's virtually every day of the week. Also happier to go to someone that has a connection with the clubs and has technical input

ICrashIn2000
Hi All, Many thanks for all the replies, much appreciated. Last time I had her serviced I went to Crawley Down which was where I bought her from and they seemed to be reasonable. But as they also deal with other motors I'm looking for someone that really know the Z's inside out. So, I'll be checking out all your recommends with great enthusiasm to keep my baby well. Just as an aside, sinner that I am, I haven't got any piccies of her yet!! Must remedy that one. For info though, she's on 54 plate, low mileage for her age around 30K, black, factory fitted BOSE etc. with no mods other than a bluetooth adapter. (oh, and "Z" valve covers). Would love Gull wing doors (or is that a bit tacky? )

You getting a little touchy Mark - its horses for courses and TGM are not paying Traders on here but are just very helpful with competitive pricing and as such don't need to advertise, I guess. In this case it was helping the OP with a good repair shop in his county Certainly when I want 4-wheel alignment doing or rolling work done for example I would likely go to Abbey but I will always keep my options open rather than continually promoting, or indeed advertising, favoured outfits. I always find it best that once you find a tuner that you are happy with then its best to stick to them In Marks case its Abbey, I use NTF & others use TGM. Atleast when you go to the same place for stuff to be done they get to know your car, know what you want & build friendships So its only natural that you would recommend your own choice rather than someone that you have never used

In my case I was trying to say for other more simple stuff, there are other garages close at hand that would be cheaper to use, not everyone needs a specialist, but a lot want a specialist. A lot of people just want to get work done by a compentant mechanic. Horses for courses. I wish thought that the arguement of being a paid up trader would end - it does not give you preferential treatment. Being a paid up trader means one thing - they can advertise on here - nothing more, nothing less. It is not a seal of approval. That is achieved by reputation of offering good deals and customers service to our members.
rtbiscuit
There is also DMS as well, DMS know the Zed very well, and offer an excellent service, they are not far from brands hatch i believe. also a trader on here. I use Team AFM but thats because they are local to me in suffolk, (very good by the way and know the Zed well) but for somethings i'm willing to travel. so for instance when i get my remap hopefully in a couple of weeks time i shall be straight down to Abbey. I've been to DMS with a mate, and can also highly recommend them Have dealt with CS excellent trader, and only hear positives. as a side note just because someone is a registered trader on here doesn't make them perfect. i can think of several occasions with several traders on here where there has been issues. I'd say do your research and go on reputation. and whats best for what you need. you have lots of options ring around find the best price.
