MarkW
Just been reading the article in AutoExpress comparing the Zed with the Z4M Coupe and Cayman S. The Zed gets a good review but I cant help wondering about weight - 1557kg according to Autoexpress (I thought it was 1525?). Is a lot of it down to the engine, or just the general build of the car? Not a critiscism, and am desperately looking forward to getting mine next week , but the Zed has the same bhp and more torque than the Cayman S (1340kg), but looses out on performance due to around an extra 200kg in weight. A Zed weighing 100kg+ less would be an interesting prospect! Sorry if this has been done before, I did have a quick search first.
rickya
Im not too sure but I think the 3.5 V6 lump in the z is not as light weight as the Porsche one. Dont forget the z engine is also used in the Renault Vel Satis & is not engineered by Porsche as a lightweight sports engine. Just my thoughts. TT2Z
Empty the sweet papers and parking stickers from the ash tray. Don't keep the CD cases in the car only fill the tank half way as a max. Junk the electric seats. ( the seats do weigh alot )
Kev946
This was always my major gripe with the Zed. I'm afriad it's due to not using light weight materials. The engine isn't so much the issue as it's an all alloy unit, just the rest of the car. Light weight exotic materials cost money, that's why the Zed is so cheap. By comparison my BMW is only 10% heavier than a Zed and that's got a big V8, 4 seats and about a foot longer. This is due to Alloy doors, plastic wings and boot plus an all alloy chassis. BTW my Cossie weighs in at 1217 kg. That's not by using exotics materials, it's due to not having many extras, e.g. air bags and a bendy flimsy chassis with no crumple zones etc.
