kris
I bought a set of replica Nismo spats and booked the Zed into the bodyshop. I got a phone call telling me the spats don't fit and they couldn't modify the to fit either, I thought this was strange so got a few pics. As you can see in order for them to fit, the spat has to follow the shape of the rear bumper and the bodyshop said can't be done. Also i'm told the material is too thin to trim and modify. I want to know of anybody else has experienced any fitment issues similar to this and if so how did the bodyshop overcome them. The place I took it to isn't a two bit garage, and the other work they carried out for me was spot on.
dcash5
Ah the joy of replica parts im affraid. Fair play to the body shop not bodging them on!
Vik54
Were the spats sold as fit for 350z? Even if they're replica they've got to do the job .............
rtbiscuit
where did you buy them from? thats a return and ask for a new set.
cookiemonster
shouldnt think you will have much trouble in getting them replaced if they were sold as a 350z fit.
kris
Yep a return was my initial thought, just wanted some confirmation as I wanted to book it in somewhere else. EDIT: They are definitely for a 350z
Lincolnbaggie
Where'd you get them from?
marzman
You've not had a bumper tuck at any point have you? That might affect the lines of the rear end (im guessing here, i've never seen a bumper tuck in person).
UNABASHED
name and shame where you bought them, if they are on here you should definitely get a refund or replacement

Seller agreed to full refund so not going to name and shame.
UNABASHED
good result If you have changed the shape and lines of the bumper then you may find it hard to find any spats to fit as genuine Nismo spats will be just as bad I would have thought

kris
Just remembered, those pics were taken with the bumper off the car. So shouldn't have made a difference.
UNABASHED
excuse my ignoreance, but what is a bumper tuck and why is it needed? (I'm guessing it shares the same principles as a tummy tuck?)
kris
excuse my ignoreance, but what is a bumper tuck and why is it needed? (I'm guessing it shares the same principles as a tummy tuck?) Its a way of showing off an aftermarket exhaust by folding up the centre section of the rear bumper and fixing it in place. A few examples:
sketch
i think bumper ticks ONLY look good if you have an exhaust like the white one above otherwise it looks gash imo, think it depend on the body shop really some like adjusting fibreglass others dont, depends how far out they are, but i would have thought if they were tigersealed on ect they would have been able to do it but if you want them removable it takes quite a bit of time and most bodyshops seem very busy atm so probably just didnt want to do it

Well I wanted them blending into the rear bumper and they wouldn't do that or even just bolt the on. No issue I can get another set. The seller was fine about it.
