whitey
Is there any benifit of swapping all of the speakers in the z without replacing the amp? I understand that the amp works at a different ohms rating than aftermarket speakers, does this matter? I have replaced the Bose headunit with a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD. analogue
you replace the speakers without replacing the amp, you will blow your amp. That is what ohm is about. more ohm = more resistance = more power consumption. it will still work as long as you keep the volume down. But why changing the speakers if you are not planning to get the volume up?
Waynerrr
Ah, I read a whole other thread about this and still couldn't wrap my head around the ohm thing. That one line has given my clarity! Ta

Im not sure what ohm the bose amp works but if you get speakers which can run at or under that ohm you can use them. E.g. lets say the bose runs at 3 ohms, If you buy 4 ohm speakers you willl run into trouble but if you have 2 ohm speakers they will be more than happy to run like that. DVC subs can be wired in many different ways e.g. 2ohm dvc can be 1ohm or 4 but not 2.
