Thomas
Looking to replace the lid on my cubby hole as its a bit scratched up and found this; http://www.jdmperformance.co.uk/item_de ... odID=57881 my cars a uk spec 350GT on an 04 plate and it has a non retractable lid on the cubby hole, would this fit my car and if so would it match the colour of my dash? Cheers Tom
Husky
the motorised one!!!! bladesgrant has this on his JDM from new and i was very very jealous! hmmmmm. looks good though mate
gunmetalzgt
It might not work because surely it need something to tell it when to open and close? us uk owners wont have this. on the other hand it could be quite simple and connect to ignition live. someone on here probably knows.... speedy
I don’t think it is motorised like the one you are talking about husky…this looks the same as the unit the Nurrish uses for his sat navs (I have one). Plus is looks a little cheap for a motorised unit. The door automatically retracts when you press the button.
nurrish
It is NOT motorised...the motorised cubby it totally different

nurrish
Also you will need the finisher plate other wise you will have a open space.....jdm dont sell this item....be careful to as i had to wait nearly 5 weeks for one to be delivered...they dont hold them in stock and they order from japan
speedy
Nurrish, is this the same one as you use? Can you motorise it my providing power and earth to the white little box at the back of the unit?
Husky
whats the white connector in the piccy then?
nurrish
you cant motorize these units.....i have looked at the motorized ones and there is alot more electrics to it....that connector on that one is purely a switch for something else....its not even connected to anything on uk cars
dcash5
Oh dear guys!..... The white plug is for the OEM sat nav screen, its a small switch that is activated by the cubby sliding back to power up the screen. The motorised part actually mechanical, its basically a tensile metal band - to close it you have it pull the thing back

nurrish
I have thought about this.....but because the system needs a long push to turn on it wont work....it would be feesable though to put it into sleep mode and for it to wake up....but if the battery was to die there would be no way to turn it on
dcash5
Dont think so as this is a constant connection rather than a momentary 2 seconds required for the 'Nurrish Special'. I tried using this when I built mine. Would require a relay small circuit board to make it momentary unfortunately
Husky
so its possible then, just needs a wee circuit attached nice to know, thanks guys
