Mark-UK
Can you disable the passenger airbag so I can use a child seat for a 9 month old?
Chris`I
I've heard Nissan do a "kit" in the States for it, but not seen one over here. For the seat airbags you need a 2.2Ohm resistor to bridge it. There is also a kit for the steeringwheel airbag to disable that when you swap the wheel. I find it hard to beleive the same couldnt be done for the passenger airbag. Maybe check out www.my350z.com . Its the US forum, they will know more
Bobsta
I'm really interested in this too. I know Nissan says "you can't" in the manual but as Chris mentioned there seems to be a kit available in the US for this, as well as after-market third party solutions. We normally use our other car (Vectra) for transporting our little one - but for emergency use I really need to be able to disable the passenger airbag in the Zed or I'll be forced to sell my low mileage roadster for a ridiculously low price. Mark - did you find anything? Anyone else? If we could work out how to get these kits from the US, would they work OK on the UK spec car? Thanks, Rob
Chris`I
I dont see why they wouldnt work on the UK car but you would need an autoelectrician to confirm. All it will be is a switch that will divert the current away from the airbag through a resistor to simulate one so the car is happy. The car will think on is there, and in an accident it will try to fire it, but it will no long be connected. The main thing is finding the resistance you need across the connection to keep the car happy
