ireynolds
Hi guys... some of you may have read that ive been having ongoing issues with condensation in specifically the passenger headlight. It came down to the previous owner not putting the backs back onto the lights after changing the bulbs...and therefore water getting in. I changed both ballasts, and bulbs several months ago..and the drivers side is now perfect..no condensation...lovely white beam. The passenger side continued to let water in...and subsequently eventually the ballast went again....or so i thought. I bought a bulk buy of 4 ballasts from Japan...so thought I would just change out the ballast again...along with the bulb...however i have now tried 3 different ballasts, and 3 bulbs...including one from the other side...and nothing works... Since taking the light out and stripping it...and putting it back together...the side light doesnt seem to even work now either... Are the headlights fused separately? Where are they fused, and does anyone have any suggestions other than a whole new headlight assembly? My MOT is due this week. Thanks in advance. Stew
I'm not sure on the fusing issue. I have had intermitant issues with my headlights in the past. The last time I had an issue I removed the light and put it in my airing cupboard beside my hot water tank and it dried out brilliantly and hasn't been an issue since. rtbiscuit
sounds a silly question, but have you fitted anything else in the engine bay? i had a similiar problem and it was due to the wires in the engine bay rubbing on the typhoon airbox causing a new earth and shorting the light out. marzman
+1 Rich. The headlight itself sounds fine, but this problem is further back than that... Have you looked at the contacts in the end of the connector? If they've been exposed they could have rusted...
ireynolds
Havent installed anything else.... not since ive had the car, and it just seems strange that the issue has come back since it got more condensation in the light. I see what your saying about the contacts...shall i disconnect the light and spray wd40 into the contacts or something?? What else could it be? hmmmm very frustrating!!!
