sam350
Hi Guys i have used the search button but to no avail , maybe somone could point me in the right direction? Anyways, i will be buying auto 350Z in the near future and was wondering is there anything in particular i need to know about the auto Z any differences? any known problems on autobox its self? how does the autobox respond to mods? I have read that you guys suggest to go for the later models for extra BHP and the HR engine or if you cant afford that go for 4.5-05 models as these models should have most of the common issues fixed. I saw a very nice auto Z on autotrader but its an 03 plate should i steer clear from these ealier models? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... &logcode=p any opinions or advise is greatly appreciated Cheers Sam
martinmac
Hi and welcome to the forum. There is a sticky post in the FAQ section for new members with lots of info. As for the auto there are no issues specifically. The auto is only available on imports btw.
marzman
Auto's are perfectly fine mate. Very strong, and reliable. I've rarely heard of an autobox failure compared to all the issues with manuals (synchro's, clutches etc etc...). As for avoiding 03 plate cars... There arent any issues i know of with them Mines an 03 and is perfect.
sam350
OK cheers for that i have a read of the FAQ, Yea i had noticed that auto/tiptronic only comes on Import so it has to be a fairlady or T lux version. It seems be very few auto Z about and it has to be auto for personal reason, but is there anywhere else i can look for auto Z's as i have looked all through Autotrader, pistonheads, exhange n mart etc etc? sam350
Well thats good to know, its just i have read a few threads about buying Z's and just say if you can afford go for newer model do so for extra BHP. That black one on autotrader in my previous post seems to be ticking all the right boxes for me, and especially it being an Auto as i've rarely seen a modded auto like this for sale. It says it has the Nismo styling pack.. does this mean this bodykit does not invalidatye the warranty if the car was still under warranty? Beware of that dealer, that front bumper is not a Nismo bumper, its a standard one with a lip. Infact if you look at their stock, nearly all of them have the same lip. I'm sure they are bringing in dirt cheap zeds, throwing a cheap replica kit and wheels on them and selling them on for a healthy profit........ Zazur
Hi and welcome No problems with the auto box but just make sure (normal stuff) when you drive it that it changes smoothly and should change quickly up and down the box. I changed my auto box oil as a precution when I got it too.

cookiemonster
Is it me or is that one quite expensive? Remember to shop around, mods can be added at any point. Get one thats been well looked after with FSH, if you can get both then perfect.
sam350
Cheers for pointing that out, i didnt notice but after re-looking i did notice that they a very similar front lip. Thanks for all the welcomes much appreciated and very warming lol. I will have a good look around it just caught me eye and fell a bit in love, seems to good to be true, but like you said its more important i get a well looked after, FSH then Mod as and when. Thats good to know the autobox is all good, how does it respond to Mods? say if i had JWT popcharger, hi flow cats, uprated exhuast will it cope ok? martinmac
The ecu is the big issue with these mods, it pretty much stops any actual power gains. The auto box wont make any difference. Dealers dont often have a clue what the cars are and list all sorts of strange claims. Most owners selling off forum tend to remove the mods and sell them separately. If you find a car on here then you may get some great mods with it. You can also search the sellers posts to get a feel for the car. This is why we have a strict 50 post rule for selling the cars, it gives the buyer a chance to get some more info.
sam350
Yea i had read that the ECU cancels out any mods till you have it remapped. How much is remapping at 350z? is there many garages that can do this?
martinmac
There are a few on here that do it. Have a search around.

Sarnie
Doesn't make sense to me. Most auto's will be 02-03 cars...........spend the difference on the car
