Neil
I know this is a long shot because the only thing we have in common is a 'Z' and to be honest, I am somewhat embarrassed to post this, but I have been made redundant and wonder if you guys know of any Telecom/IT positions going? (Sales or Technical). If, on the off-chance, the answer is 'yes', I can send my CV etc to you directly The Job Agencies are driving me around the bend (excuse the pun). I have travelled miles to be interviewed by them on the promise of an opportunity, to find that they will 'add me to their database' - frustrating Hope the Moderators do not mind me posting this? Thanks in advance everyone. Neil

stanski
You need to give us more specific info about the kind of jobs you want IT is too general a term for example?
Neil
You need to give us more specific info about the kind of jobs you want IT is too general a term for example? Last position was working for an American manufacturer. They utilised an existing copper pair (usually the telephone cable) by multiplexing voice and data to Hotel rooms to give guests Internet Access removing the need to install Cat5 cabling. I managed the EMEA division and sold the solution to Resellers and End Users across Europe and the UK. Previous position was Sales Manager at a value added distributor. They concentrated solely on all things VoIP, from SIP gateways to VoIP PBX's. Selling to the channel (Resellers). Previous position was Account Manager promoting remote working solutions to enable home users to utilise the company's digital PBX system (Nortel, Avaya, Ericcson) by delivering the digital features to the users handset as if they were in the office. That basically covers the last 12 years. Maybe Pre- Sales Technical, Technical Sales Manager, Sales Operations Manager as suggestions. Hope that helps, Stan Thanks again... UNABASHED
if you have any server training then I may be getting a Field based Technical Engineer post opening at the end of the month?
vasser
Hi Neil Sorry to hear about that. Have you sent your CV to Caprock? They are heavily involved in the Telecoms Business in the off-shore industry. I work with a few of their boys and they all seem to have only good things to say about the company. The type of jobs going is for techs. Guys who can work with tools really, basically maintenance and repairs. The rotas most these guys are on are 2 weeks offshore and 3 weeks at home. Good pay too, probably in excess of 45K closer the 50K mark a year.

Thanks for your post mate... Although I understand server architecture and network hardware (Switched hubs etc), I have had no exposure to Active Server, Exchange, for example. I have specialised in voice, rather than data and whilst this pains me to say it, I do not think I would be able to add value to your company. (At least I am being honest eh? ) Thanks again..really appreciate it Neil

They will no doubt look for formal technician / engineering certificates, of which I do not hold. I got my hands 'dirty' from necessity (when we were short staffed) and therefore learnt the un-official way. Anyway - I can't swim (Joke). Appreciate the suggestion though bud. rtbiscuit
no worries, no one likes to see anyone out of a job. heres the weblink to the BT research centre, alot more there than i realsied, huge range of telecom companies based out of there. have a look at the companies section, might lead to a section with job vacancies. i haven't looked as im doing other things, but might be food for thought. although the distance might be an issue. if you relocate am always happy to show you around. http://www.atadastral.co.uk/

rawbhp
Recruiters are a waste of time imo, especially with a saturated market at the moment. It's all about networking. Are you on LinkedIn? www.linkedin.com Adults Facebook basically but it has jobs advertised and more importantly you can email people who work for companies you may be interested in. Ask for advice first, then a job may follow...
