IanS
Hi guys, A few months ago I decided to dip my toe into the world of bikes and picked up a 2005 600cc Hornet with 17k on the clock. Have been using it for commuting to save putting boring traffic miles on the Zed. Decided that I don’t want to lavish the bike with mods and instead keep the cash for the car – that said I want to keep it in good and safe condition. When riding really slowly or filtering the front end feels increasingly vague – like there is too much play in the steering . Visual inspection and simple checks don’t reveal that anything is loose and the tyre pressure and condition is spot on. Doing a bit of reading around, it sounds like the front suspension might be on the way out – has anyone had any similar experiences? Don’t really want to start spending on aftermarket replacement suspension if I have to! Any advice much appreciated
Stew
Drop Lomoto a PM. He might be able to help. Might also try a hornet specific forum for focused advise too.
Spaceman
The suspension shouldn't have gone with that age miles probably just a case of playing with the compression / rebound settings on the forks I was always trying to get mine perfect, took me about 4 months of riding though Happy biking and be safe
IanS
Cheers guys, hoping that it might be something like a loose component around the steering pivot - nothing that the weekend and the haynes manual cant fix!
