Dragonball
What do you good people recommend? I think she wants to spend about £2.5K She is looking for something with four doors preferably - as she is usually the 'designated driver' (however I suspect she will take the right car with 2!) Over a 1.2 engine if pos - but not too much due to insurance etc. Suggestions and anyone selling something suitable welcome based nr twickenham Cheers
nixy
i don't think you can go far wrong with a ford focus if you can get one in that price bracket. Reliable, easy to drive etc......

nixy
no i agree, lots of spares about etc. i've driven a few and was quite impressed, the diesels are really nippy too! Also have mod cons like heated front screen which is ace on icy mornings if you don't have a nice man to scrape your windscreen!
Stew
Agree on the focus. The 1.6 is an ideal car. Nippy enough but won't get herself into trouble. The 1.4 is underpowered. Handles very well and looks good in my opinion! Very good value for money!
Maccaman
Went car shopping with a girlfriend last year & looked at all sorts. She was interested in a Fiesta but we took a Focus out and she ended up buying it. She had a few problems but nothing of any major concern. Payed about £3800 for it though. greido
Wanted - car for my daughter sound like a good swap, is she hot? LOL - Excellent. For a small car I'd always recommend the best Honda Civic you can get for your budget, good to drive and utterly reliable. I got one for my g/f and she loves it. Gaz Walker
Wanted - car for my daughter sound like a good swap, is she hot? I've seen the OP, let's hope she got her looks from her mother Hi Paul
stanski
Honda Civic , Toyota Yaris , previous shape Micra Sport
goatboy
VW polo, everytime for me. bit more expensive to buy but reliable and parts are cheap as chips (GSF carparts!) Also hold their price well and will be easy to sell on. If she has to park on the street in West London the smaller the car the better! Are you from Twickenham BTW? me too ETA: if you want to look around a few small cars there is a place in Chertsey that only stocks small cars. http://www.windisor.co.uk/9204/windisor.htm He's a little overpriced, but we got a Figaro from there and the guy was happy to barter, failing that it might be a good place to just have a look round some small cars to see what your daughter likes the look of... rog518
How about my 106 quiksilver so I can finally get a zed?! On second thoughts you may want to go for a more reliable make!
stanski
Polos are pretty solid but they also weight about 15 tonnes so go for the bigger engine and watchout for the dodgey airbag switch that seems to always go on them!
