Nuno
Hi I just bought a black 2005 350z roadster a few weeks ago and have been going over this forum for the past few days. I have just two problems with it and was wondering if anyone could help. 1. I have the birdview satnav and i think the cubby lid is supposed to be motorised, it opens when i press the button but i kind of have to force it closed every time. Is there a way to fix this 2. When i bought the car i tested the roof many times and it worked fine. but over the past two weeks the roof has got stuck 3 times just before its supposed to go into the boot, i have to move the roof up again slightly and then retract the roof and then it goes back in the boot. on one occasion it wouldn't go into the boot at all and after several attempts and a slight push it then did. Has anyone else had this problems as its starting to bother me a little bit. Thanks in advance

martinmac
Hi and welcome to the forum. I also have an 05 roadster and am having a few problems with the roof. The first point to check is that the parts are greased. http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/TSB_03-1 ... _Not_Close If this does not fix the problem then you masy be in to the same issues that I have. Let me know and I will give you some more advice.

Nuno
Thanks for the welcome and advice. I'll try greasing the joints and hope that it helps, the roof rarely does that but is annoying when it does. As for the cubby lid, i saw a jdm with satnav with the buttons below the screen instead of the remote and that had a motorised lid that opened n closed automatically with the ignition, so was thinking whether mine was supposed to do that also. i wanted to powdercoat the standard 18" rays matt black and then lower the car, but after going through the threads on the suspension section it seems i may need a rear camber kit. Is there anyone who hasn't fitted one and suffering any problems with/after alignment? I don't really know how low to go and what make springs to use so any advice would be appreciated. I'm from nottingham so will be keeping an eye out for any midlands meets.
ZMANALEX
Hi and welcome to the forum mate. Your first issue is normal, just be gentle with it and it will retract easily. Your second point could be numerous things but the 5th bow on mine would not close every time for the last two weeks and after only several switch operations would it close and this week end it gave up the ghost completely and would not close at all. I only had a chance to check it out today and it was only a sticking micro switch and after a spray of wd40 all is good again. The micro switches are positioned at the thin wire cable ends located under the black leatherette in the roof storage area. If you cant find them give me a shout back and I will get some photos over to you over the weekend. Alex.

splash
Hiya and welcome! Ah like me, you bought your Roadster in winter and i think this is the cause of your roof worries!! I got mine in January last year so as you can imagine not living in Florida the roof didn't come down very often, in fact when i first lowered it, it would'nt fold away without a couple of attempts. I sprayed the joints with silicon grease and lowered the roof when i could, weather allowing, and occasionally it would stick but as the weather got warmer and summer arrived, happy days!! Basically all summer it was fine as i had the roof down regularly but its been up for a while now as its been slightly damp down here to say the least and last week i tried it and , yeah you guessed it, it stuck. It will be fine though once the good weather is with us again, face it its a roadster they don't like the cold!! Chris

I'm from nottingham so will be keeping an eye out for any midlands meets. With regards lowering the car - i got mine dropped 25mm all round at ESR in 2008. The lads sorted the camber alignment for me too with the standard kit that is on the Zed from factory. Ive since gone thru a few pairs of tyres and the wear is totally even front and rear....so i dont think you need new sway bars/drop links etc if you lower it sensibly. 30mm+ might be a different matter...? I used Eiback Pro springs, some second hand shocks (came from a Zed that had only done 8000 miles) and also some Eibach hubcentric spacers. The lads at ESR fitted it all in around 3 hours (did some exhaust re-hanging for me too!). Great place, but sadly no longer open due to illness in the family. I hope Phil is on the mend ! Im near Notts mate - seems to be a dead-spot in the Zed world. Not many mod or maintenance specialists around here

Alex I dont know which one is the microswitch and how this can get stuck, maybe I'm not looking at the right thing? I'd appreciate a photo of what and where I need to use some wd40 I've tried to find the 5th bow attachment and lubricate it with wd40 but the roof it still getting stuck 6" before it gets into the boot and have to move the roof up and down at least 5-6 times before. and when it does go all the way down it makes a popping noise just before it goes into the boot, does this happen with any of you. I'm also not sure if I'm lubricating the right parts. can someone please show an image of exactly what I'm supposed to lubricate with regards to the 5th bow and how to get to it. Is it visible and easier to access with the roof up, down or half way?
