ZedJohn
Hi, I've been told the best type of cleaning / protecting for a car is to have it detailed. I'm the first to admit I'm a lazy s*d and the Polish normally clean the car (cue the disapproving comments!) Can anyone explain what detailing is and if it's worthwhile? Thanks

Chris`I
You have lots to learn my friend, I suggest you try doing a search, there was a good thread about the basics posted not too long ago. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/ also is the mecca of detailers
maxi-glasgow
I used to always get my car washed by the Polish car wash guys but never go near the places anymore. I got a full detail done as was fed up with the paintwork all swirls and being black its far more noticeable than other colours. Here is a pic with half the front wing detailed against what it used to look like:-
maxi-glasgow
And here is the rear panel which I tried to polish myself with disastrous results as you can see:- But once detailed by the professionals it came out like new:-

Stew
Lots of keen amateurs on here and well as a few pros so basic questions should be answered easily. Just remember that everyone has their own opinion on products etc.

Husky
its totally dependant on your mindset if you choose to do it yourself. three reasons youll do it 1: you have ocd and love it 2: you have ocd and hate it but love the results 3: you dont have ocd but dont have the spare cash for professionals I found this link below to be & some pictures of my results. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2878&hilit=Detailing+guide ] that photo crops up everywhere you post now hahaha, 350z swimsuit edition yeah! duffman! Harman350z
I can pick 2 of the above, OCD and love it (in the summer) OCD and hate it but love the results (in winter) I just need some paint correction done now + a bonnet&bumper respray. ZedJohn
Thankfully apathy soon overwhelms the OCD for me, plus the lack of a six-pack! Harman - that is unbeleivable shiny, you've obviously put a lot of graft into that
