malcolmrs2000
on a 54 Plate zed I have had a rattle going over rough surfaces. Had the front drop links replaced but no difference. Mechanic took the car out and the rattle went away when he used his left foot on the brake pedal whilst right foot on the throttle. As next service wasn't far away we waited till that service and he replaced the front pads. No difference...still goes away when you press the brakes!! You can also hear a nosie when the steering is on hard lock....sounds a bit like something rubbing on a disc dust shield. Leaving the car with them tomorrow but they have already checked for any play in the front suspension. My thinking is a knackered strut but I am only guessing. Anyone with any clues? martinmac
Hi and welcome to the forum. Its not easy to explain what a rattle sounds like. Stick "rattle" into the search engine and see if you can find anything similar.
malcolmrs2000
Thanks for the welcome. Have browsed before but no problems with the Zed for the 5 years I have had it since new so no real reason to ask questions. Favourite fix looks like the banana shaped bar with ball joint..probably has a proper name like lower track control arm or whatever. Have taken a print out of the photo and will hand it over with the car. Mechanic is spot on as he works with a Rally crew and has seen most problems before. Does anyone know the best priced place to pcik one of these up? Someone mentioned £100 a piece and someone else said they picked one up for £30??!! malcolmrs2000
Hi...can anyone help? The garage has been quoted £304 plus vat for this part from Nissan (called a compression strut?). Really dont want to pay that sort of money as I am out of my job in 6 weeks!!

ZMANALEX
Hi Malcolm, you are indeed a stranger. I have all the components available (preowned) for the front suspension. I am quite happy for you to drop by mines and try the various parts on as a process of elimination. Cheers, Alex.
scottsoulby
i was going to say get in touch with zmanalex, i had the same problems, changed a fair few parts before realising it was the banana shaped bar, its the ball joint on the end that rattles, i can understand your frustration, it sounds horrible

ds2000
I have the same issue and have decided I'm going to get the ES Master Bushing Kit after Xmas and do the work over a few weekends I'm pretty sure its the banana arm as well.
